🌟 Internship Spotlight: Gabbie Neumann 🌟

Gabbie is spending her summer as a Genetics Intern with AI Total US in Hudson, Wisconsin!

Throughout her internship, Gabbie has had the opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at every step of the AI process, from sire selection and mating decisions to semen packaging and distribution to clients around the world. She has also enjoyed working on marketing projects like designing bull flyers and analyzing weekly genomic proofs to help identify potential sire additions for the AI Total US lineup.

We’re proud to see Gabbie gaining valuable experience in the genetics industry and learning how all the pieces come together to support dairy producers. We can’t wait to see where her passion for dairy and genetics takes her next! 🐄

Congratulations, Joseph!

Students in their third year of college are eligible for the Merton Sowerby Junior Merit Scholarship. Merton Sowerby was a dairy leader internationally recognized for his expertise as a classifier and judge of dairy cattle. The scholarship is to encourage qualified undergraduate students to pursue a career related to dairy and have demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, and interest in dairy cattle.

The top recipient receiving a $2,000 scholarship is Brianna Meyer, a dairy science student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The remaining recipients receiving $1,500 scholarships are:

Joseph Achen, an agricultural business student at Iowa State University

Jacob Harbaugh, a student at the University of Minnesota majoring in animal science and applied economics.

Alexis Hoefs, an animal science student at the University of Minnesota

Tyler Ratka, a student at the University of Minnesota majoring in animal science and agricultural and food business management.

Garrett Ulness, a dairy science student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

🌟 Internship Spotlight: Blake Jauquet 🌟

Blake is spending his summer as a Service Technician Intern with Abts BouMatic in Luxemburg, Wisconsin!

Throughout his internship, Blake has had the opportunity to work with a variety of dairy technologies and gain hands-on experience with both BouMatic parlors and Lely robotic systems. The most rewarding part of his internship has been learning the ins and outs of these systems and getting a firsthand look at how modern dairy operations are evolving.

We’re proud to see Blake expanding his knowledge of dairy technology and gaining valuable experience in the industry. We can’t wait to see where his passion for dairy takes him next! 🐄

🌟 Internship Spotlight: Anders Lovstuen 🌟

This summer, Anders is working as an Allamakee SWCD Intern with the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship (IDALS) in Waukon, Iowa!

Throughout his internship, Anders has enjoyed spending time in the field, meeting with producers, and helping them work toward their conservation goals. One of his favorite experiences has been teaching local youth at the Waukon Public Library about Iowa's native prairie ecosystems, soil health, and native flower identification.

We're excited to see Anders continue making a positive impact through conservation and wish him the best as he grows his career in agriculture! 🌱🌼

✨ Internship Spotlight : Kaylee Cavanh✨

Kaylee is spending her summer in La Grande, Oregon as a Herdsperson Intern at Grande Ronde Dairy.

The best part of her internship so far has been the supportive learning environment and the opportunity to work with innovative technology like a 60-stall rotary parlor. Kaylee says there is never a dull moment working with goats, and she’s gaining valuable hands-on experience every day!

We’re proud to highlight Kaylee’s experience and the opportunities our Dairy Science Club members have to learn, grow, and explore careers in the dairy industry. 🐐💙

Our next scholarship recognition is for the Mike Lancaster Sophomore Merit Scholarship. Mike Lancaster, owner and operator of Olympic Vista Dairy Farm in Sequim, Washington, was an industry leader and an outstanding supporter of student programs and activities. The scholarship is to encourage qualified undergraduate students to pursue a career related to dairy and have demonstrated leadership skills, academic ability, and interest in dairy cattle.

The scholarship is available to any undergraduate student currently enrolled in their second year in a four-year college.

Receiving top honors with the $2,000 scholarship is Ainsley Sellers, an animal science major at Penn State.

Trevor Hath, a student at the University of Minnesota majoring in animal science with a dairy production emphasis.

🌟 Internship Spotlight: Nadia Klema 🌟

This summer, Nadia is serving as a Dairy Management Intern with Stauffer Farms LLC in North Lawrence, New York!

Throughout her internship, Nadia has been developing her skills in dairy management through hands-on experience across the farm. Her favorite part of the internship has been working in the heifer unit, performing animal treatments, and gaining valuable veterinary shadowing experience.

We're excited to see Nadia continue expanding her knowledge and wish her all the best as she pursues a future in the dairy industry! 🐄🩺

Congratulations, Haley!

One of the new scholarships offered this year is the National Dairy Shrine Pre-Vet Scholarship. The scholarship recognizes and supports students who are pursuing a veterinary career in large animal production agriculture. One award, totaling $2,500, will be provided to students in the third or fourth year of their undergraduate study.

The recipient this year is Haley Ronnebaum, who is dairy science, pre-vet student at Iowa State University.
