Good afternoon,
The Agricultural Urbanism Toolkit Application:http://research.design.iastate.edu/communitydesignlab/wp-content/uploads/sites/3/2014/03/2016_Agricultural-Urbanism-Toolkit-Application.pdf deadline has been extended to March 31, 2016. Please see the attachment if you and your community are interested in applying. This process is meant to assist communities in their preparation and development of a local food systems coalition and create capacity for local food leaders; research and assess food system and health existing conditions for strategic planning; engage diverse organizations and individuals in a collective process for determining appropriate food systems projects for community development; and design and implement prioritized projects that are determined by the coalition based on the research conducted and public input sessions.

This is the LAST year that we will have funding through the Leopold Center of Sustainable Agriculture. The price for participation is $5,000/ year for a three year process. We are still in the research development component of this program, and we are very thankful to all of our partner communities and organizations to contributing to the community process and leading to a unique, collaborative program for community food systems development.

As always, I am more than happy to come present or discuss this opportunity with any community groups/ organizations and encourage the discussion of creative possibilities for partnerships and program development as well. Please reach out to me if you have further questions or would like to get together to discuss further what this could look like for your community.

Best,

The CDL station at the Healthy Ames event yesterday was a popular spot where neighbors and even Cy learned about Complete Streets! A block-long installation of a temporary bike lane demonstrated how Ames streets can be more complete. Thanks especially to CDL Design Fellow Chad Hunter.
