🌟 For our next round of teacher spotlights, meet Jamie O’Donnell — Our Wonderful Assistant Teacher! 🌟

We are so lucky to have Jamie on our team at Adventures Preschool! She joined us in 2019 and brought with her a heartfelt passion for early childhood education. Jamie graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Early Childhood Education, and spent seven years teaching preschool before taking a break to care for her own children.

As fate would have it, both of Jamie’s children attended Adventures Preschool — she’s not just a staff member, she’s also been a parent volunteer and served on our advisory board.

When she’s not helping our little learners grow, Jamie loves going to Cyclone football and basketball games, traveling, and spending time with family.

We are so grateful for Jamie’s dedication, kindness, and deep connection to our school community. 💛

Say hello to Jill Strawhacker, the heart of Adventures Preschool! As our Director and Lead Teacher, she’s dedicated to creating a wonderful learning environment. A proud Iowa State alumni, Jill’s experience shines through every day. When she’s not with our little adventurers, she’s enjoying family time with her husband Chris, her sons, and relaxing with a good book. We’re so lucky to have her!

We’re excited to share that our nature-based preschool has its very own Little Free Library! This special spot is a place for families, neighbors, and friends to take a book, leave a book, and grow a love of reading together.

Just like our days outdoors, our library is about connection, curiosity, and community. Whether your child picks out a story to read under a tree, or you drop off a favorite book for another family to enjoy, you’re helping nurture a circle of sharing and discovery.

Come explore, swap stories, and see what treasures you might find inside. Together, we’re growing both readers and community roots. 🌱❤️

Adventures Preschool, located at 2622 Lincoln Way in Ames, Iowa, has openings in their Monday, Wednesday, Friday(8:30-11:45) class for the 2025-2026 school year. The program is licensed by the Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), holds an IQ4K Level 1 rating, and has a Nature Explore Certified Outdoor Classroom.
We believe children learn through play inside the classroom and in nature. We follow a seasonal curriculum and focus on social emotional development.
Adventures Preschool is a parent coop and parents volunteer in the classroom 3-4 times per school year, serve on the parent advisory board, or on parent committees.
