If you're facing watering restrictions, know that lawns can be maintained with minimal irrigation. Our horticulture and turfgrass specialists share their direction for homeowners:
β
Even when lawn foliage dies back, crowns and roots remain alive.
β
Most healthy lawns can survive dormancy for four to six weeks without water.
β
Avoid cycling between dormancy and greening with intermittent irrigation.
β
Raise mowing height to 3.5β4 inches.
β
Hold off on fertilizing dormant lawns.
