▪️Iowa 4-H Youth 'Blooming in Style' at 2026 Awardrobe Clothing Event▪️

One hundred fifty-four Iowa 4-H youth from 68 counties gathered at the Iowa State Fair on Aug. 13 for the 2026 Iowa 4-H Awardrobe Clothing Event, celebrating fashion, personal style and life skills through this year's garden party-inspired theme, “Blooming in Style.”

Participants in grades 9-12 demonstrated their knowledge of apparel, consumer decision-making, construction techniques and creative design through judging and a runway showcase.

This year's event included 65 participants in the $20 Challenge, 57 in Clothing Selection, 17 in Fashion R***e and 15 in Innovative Design. Clothing Selection participants evaluate garments to meet wardrobe needs or specific occasions, while Fashion R***e participants model garments they have constructed, knitted or crocheted themselves. The $20 Challenge emphasizes sustainability by requiring participants to assemble an outfit for $20 or less, and Innovative Design encourages youth to create projects using unconventional materials, cosplay, wearable technology or upcycled fashion.
