Today, we say farewell to our beloved Operations Coordinator, Madison! 💙

For the past two years, Madison has played an essential role in the growth and success of Lott Music Studio. From answering emails and phone calls to welcoming families through our doors (and so much more behind the scenes!), she brought care, passion, and positivity to everything she did. Her dedication has made a lasting impact on our studio, our teachers, and the many students and families she has worked with along the way.

While we are certainly sad to see Madison go, we are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and heart she has poured into Lott Music Studio. We are also so excited to see where this next chapter takes her and all the wonderful opportunities ahead!

Thank you for everything, Madison. We will miss you dearly! ❤️🎶

While he might not be one of our teachers, Urtzi is an essential part of the backbone of Lott Music Studio! As the Executive Director, most of Urtzi's work happens behind the scenes. He makes sure our website stays running and updated, keeps our security system up to date, and even more.

Of course, Urtzi is much more than just a tech guy. When he can pull himself away from the computer, he loves doing DIY projects. From improving his home to little projects just for fun, he loves to stretch his creative muscles. And when his creative muscles (and actual muscles) need a break, he loves to sit back and relax with his husband, Aaron. While it might not seem relaxing to others, horror movies are one of Urtzi's favorite film genres.

We are thrilled to have Laurie's work on display in the studio once again! These pictures don't do her work justice, so make sure you take the time to soak in the stunning character and charm of all of the paintings we have in our space. From wildlife to landscapes and flower and more, Laurie's work is filled with so much life.

Don't let the picture trick you! Scott is actually one of our piano teachers at the studio! His years and years of performances have led to him being quite the rockstar on a multitude of instruments.

Outside of teaching, Scott's life is still filled with music. He's a performer in many different groups, a composer, and so much more. You've probably seen us promoting his solo concerts highlighting his original work. If you're interested in taking a listen, just look up his name on any music streaming platform. You should be able to find him!

Now, there's more to Scott than music. In fact, when the weather is nice, Scott loves to ride his motorcycle to the studio! He loves a good cup of coffee and being around good people.

We love how creative our students are! We get to hear them be musicians all the time, but it's great to see them be artists, too. The markers in our reception space are almost always in use. Take a look at some of the beautiful drawings and artwork from the month of July, and tell me which one is your favorite!

Quinton is our remarkable percussion teacher! From the full drum set to just snare and so much more-- Quinton is your guy. His experience as a musician is vast, but maybe you've seen him around Central Iowa in one of the many bands he performs with. He loves teaching students of all ages and experience levels. Whether you're prepping for auditions or aiming to rock the stage with a group, Quinton will make sure you're equipped with the skills and techniques you need.

Outside of the studio, Quinton does a little bit of everything. Adventures with family and friends, relaxing at home, wild performances throughout the state-- all great things that keep him well rounded and energized.

Our Choral Skills Group is taking a break for the summer, but we're already looking forward to meeting again in September! Take a look at our fall schedule and make sure you get those select Saturdays marked on your calendar.
Curious about our Choral Skills Group? We're a non-audition group of singers of all experience and skill levels. If you haven't sung since high school or you're currently taking voice lessons-- it doesn't matter to us. Everyone is welcome! We work together on skills for healthy, sustainable singing. About half of our time together is spent learning techniques through warm-ups and simple tunes. The second half of our time on Saturdays is spent applying what we've learned to new and challenging repertoire.

We make music to grow as musicians and as a community, not necessarily to perform. If you're looking for a judgement free, tight-knit community of singers to make music with-- join us! Our Choral Skills Group might be the group for you!

We often have delicious treats and coffee, too!

Din is one of our fabulous student teachers! While he's taking a break and soaking in the summer sun, we can't wait to have him back in the studio this fall.

Din teaches piano and he's currently studying at Iowa State University, but he does more than that! He's performed with ISU's Opera Studio and Jazz Band, and back in middle school, he learned how to play the trumpet. Din is most definitely a multi-faceted musician.

Of course, when he's not making music, he's probably spending time with his friends! He loves to play sports and all sorts of other college fun with his friends.

Taylor is one of our incredible team of voice and piano teachers!
Taylor is a mezzo-soprano, and she graduated from Iowa State University earlier this spring! During her time as a student, she had some incredible performance opportunities, including her senior recital and many great productions with ISU's Opera Studio. In fact, in the Opera Studio's performance of Die Fledermaus, she gave a fantastic performance as Prince Orlofsky!
In addition to her skills as a vocalist, Taylor is a skilled pianist. While it wasn't her area of study during college, she is a great piano teacher.

Now, when she's not making music, Taylor can often be found with her nose in a book, snuggled up with her beloved dog.
