The Fiber Arts Node is resuming regular open hours this week. We will begin offering some special activities as fall settles in. Meanwhile, our dyer, Natalie Jackson, has been busy, with a round of indigo emerging from the vat last week!

There were several CASA Artists showing their work at the Ames Downtown Farmer’s Market today! Here are photos of Isaac Rolf, Suzy Block, Jenn Whithers and former member and longtime supporter, Steve Fisher. Great work, everyone! Thanks to Nathan Moore and Linda Lieberman for photos!

I was at the Octagon Shop this afternoon and saw a bunch of beautiful artwork by CASA Artists and others from around the Midwest. There were beautiful displays of lots of gorgeous pieces! Hope you can stop by when you are in town!

There is an additional change for the August schedule - the Fiber Arts Node will not be open also on Tuesday, August 4 (tomorrow). So that's two Tuesdays and two Saturdays we are missing, for various reasons. We look forward to seeing you after that, with regular open hours and some fun new activities.

The Fiber Arts node is regularly open for drop-in use on Saturdays, 9-12 and Tuesdays, noon-3. We have design walls, sewing machines, a large sturdy cutting table, irons and ironing boards, and miscellaneous supplies (need one button?) available for anyone. Some days we will announce a special activity or a theme, but other days we are simply open. You will usually find someone there who knows at least a little about sewing, embroidery, knitting, crocheting, and mending. Often, we also have experience with origami and we have supplies for that.

EXCEPT:

In August, we will not be open on the 8th, 11th, or 15th - two Saturdays and a Tuesday.

After August 15th - watch for announcements of some new options and activities for the fall.

Here is a photo of Breanna Engelhardt at the Waukee Arts Festival a few weeks ago. Beautiful display, Bree. Thank you, Nathan Moore, for the photo.

There were several people working when I stopped by at CASA this morning. Here is Jen Withers trimming a bowl, one of the many steps to a finished piece of functional art. Can’t wait to see the end result!
