Here are photos of two CASA Artists at two markets this weekend. Both Nathan Moore and Jenn Withers are showing their work NOW at the market at the Downtown Fareway! They are open until 4 pm. This Saturday at the Fiber Arts Node:

Folding Boxes – a theme and variations
Instructions for folding a square box from a square of paper (a Masu box) can be found on YouTube – for example

However, there are wonderful and simple variations that you can easily make once you have the basic idea: Rectangular boxes, boxes with a photo-window, boxes with a surprise inside, boxes that appear to have a ribbon built-in. We will also show you how you can print a pattern so that it will appear on the box where you want it to appear.

At this workshop we will help you if you have not yet mastered the basic box, discuss what materials make particularly nice boxes and how to pick the right size paper to use, and provide materials, instructions, and examples to take this to the next level.

Here is a photo of our CASA Booth at the octagon Art Fair. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to sign up for information, sign up for classes, talked to us about CASA and discussed Studio Space at CASA. Very special thanks to the CASA members who signed up to help set up, sit at the booth and help take down and transport the booth! TODAY CASA will be at the Octagon Art Fair in Downtown Ames. Our booth will be across from the Octagon entrance! CASA Artists Bree Englehardt and Isaac Rolf will be showing their beautiful ceramics work and many other Regional Artists will have their work displayed. Please stop by and say hi!

Kumihimo cord workshop.

Saturday, September 26, 9-12 AM at the Fiber Arts Node, 130 S. Sheldon Ave Room 203

Learn to make your own 8-strand Kumihimo cord. Materials and instructions provided. The disks cost $2 each if you wish to take yours home or purchase extra. Otherwise the workshop is free, though donations to CASA are always welcome.
