South Georgia Technical College will offer a Driver’s Education class on the Americus campus September 19, 20, 26, and 27.

The course includes 30 hours of classroom instruction plus six hours of behind-the-wheel training, which will be scheduled separately. Students must have a learner’s permit prior to enrolling.

Scholarships are available that can cover the full cost of the class. The deadline to apply for a scholarship for this class is August 31. The cost of the class without a scholarship is $375.

South Georgia Technical College will host a Blood Drive for the American Red Cross Tuesday, September 1 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in Hicks Hall on the Americus campus. Donate blood and help save lives.

If you guessed Johnny Davis, our Culinary Arts instructor on the Crisp County Campus, you would be correct! He graduated from SGTC and the Culinary Institute of America. This is his second stint as an instructor at South Georgia Tech!

Right now, electricians are in high demand in our area and Patrick Owen and Jeff Sheppard, both SGTC Alumni, are teaching others to fill that gap and are helping mold the next generation of "Doers & Makers!"

South Georgia Technical College Accounting Director Robin Bell has decided to retire after over 13 years of service to the college, its students, and faculty and staff. She began her career at SGTC as an Accounting Specialist but has now served as the Accounting Director for over 11 years. Her strong work ethic, calming demeanor, and helpful attitude will be missed. To know Peiare Adderley is to love Peiare! Parents come by just to meet him in person after talking on the phone with him. And he is so helpful to students before they register, after they begin taking classes, and right on up until graduation day and beyond. He is definitely a "Doer & Maker" at SGTC.
