Most days, faithfulness doesn’t look all that impressive.

It looks like watering what’s already been planted. Making the call. Keeping the promise. Sitting with somebody. Showing up again when nobody is clapping.

Jesus says, “Keep awake.” Maybe staying awake isn’t about watching the sky. Maybe it’s being present enough to notice what Jesus has already placed in my hands—and trusting Him with what happens next.

Faithfulness is how I stay awake.

So today I’m carrying one question: What has Jesus actually entrusted to me today that simply needs my faithful attention?

“God is faithful.” — 1 Corinthians 1:9

Some mornings I can get moving before I ever check in with what’s happening inside of me.

Work gets done. Folks get helped. I show up. From the outside, everything can look faithful.

But Jesus keeps pulling me deeper: “First clean the inside…” (Matthew 23:26).

That has me wondering if I’ve been spending more energy looking faithful than letting Jesus actually form faithfulness in me.

So today, I’m trying something simple—open hands, a quiet minute, and one honest prayer:

Jesus, what’s happening inside of me right now?

Maybe I don’t need to fix the answer. Maybe I just need to give Him access.

I know how to straighten up what folks can see. The harder work is letting Jesus into what they can’t.This morning, His ...

I know how to straighten up what folks can see. The harder work is letting Jesus into what they can’t.

This morning, His words about cleaning “the inside of the cup” caught me. Maybe some things I’ve been trying to fix on the outside don’t need more effort first. Maybe they need deeper surrender.

Jesus starts His work where nobody else can see.

So today, when I pick up a cup or fill my water bottle, I’m letting it remind me to pray: “Jesus, start with the inside of me.”

What might change if I stopped managing the outside long enough to let Jesus tend what’s happening within?

I’ve noticed how much I want God to show me the whole picture before I’m willing to relax my grip. Where is this going? What am I supposed to do with this?

Then Jesus tells Nathanael, “Before Philip called you… I saw you.” (John 1:48)

That stopped me.

Maybe I don’t need to see everything Jesus is doing to trust Him. Maybe I need to remember that Jesus sees me before I see what He is doing.

So today, instead of asking for another explanation, I’m trying to simply hear the invitation: Come and see.

Where might Jesus be asking you to come a little closer without giving you the whole map first?

Some questions I can answer quickly because I know the church answer. But Jesus asking, **“Who do you say that I am?”** feels different today.

I can say He’s Lord, Savior, King—but I’m realizing the way I carry my life answers that question too.

When I’m controlling, forcing, or trying to figure everything out, maybe I don’t need more answers. Maybe I need to remember who Jesus is.

Because **I can surrender what I trust Jesus to hold.**

So today I’m sitting with this: **If Jesus really is who I say He is, what would trusting Him look like in the way I live today?**

Some parts of me are easier to bring to God than others.

The confident part? Sure. The part that has it together? Absolutely.

But the timid part. The insecure part. The scared part. The places that feel dry? I’d rather tuck those away.

Yet Jesus says to love God with all my heart, soul, and mind. Maybe “all” means He wants those parts too.

God tells Ezekiel, “I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live.” (Ezekiel 37:14)

God can breathe life into what I have already called dead.

So today I’m wondering: What might come alive if I stopped hiding and trusted God with all of me?

I’m realizing there’s a difference between being welcomed by Jesus and letting Jesus change me.

I love the invitation. I love knowing there’s room at the table for me. But Ezekiel’s words caught me this morning: “A new heart I will give you.” (Ezekiel 36:26)

Apparently, grace doesn’t just welcome me in and leave me where it found me. Grace starts working on my heart—softening what’s gotten hard, loosening what I’m gripping, changing what I’ve gotten comfortable carrying.

So today I’m sitting with this:

Where have I gladly accepted Jesus’ invitation but quietly resisted His transformation?

Maybe I don’t need to fix it today. Maybe I just need to let Jesus into that room.

Somewhere along the way, I realized I keep more scorecards than I thought.

Who showed up. What I gave. What I got back. What feels fair.

Then Psalm 23 brings me back to something simpler: “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Maybe I don't have to understand how everything adds up to trust the One leading me.

Today's Chapel Anchor Thought is staying with me:

I can trust the Shepherd without keeping score.

So I'm carrying this question today: Where am I keeping score because I'm struggling to trust the Shepherd's goodness?

Maybe there's a scorecard Jesus is inviting me to put down.

I’m learning that there’s a difference between being prepared and needing to feel in control.

Sometimes the things I’ve built to make myself feel secure—my plans, my resources, even my ability to figure things out—can quietly become the things I trust most.

Jesus keeps reminding me:

“With mortals this is impossible, but for God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26

So today, I’m practicing open hands.

Not throwing away wisdom.
Not ignoring responsibility.
Just remembering that my security was never supposed to come from having everything figured out.

Jesus, teach me to trust You more than what I can hold together. 🙏🏾
