Hi AF Seniors! If you are planning to go to the University of Utah in the fall, take a look at this scholarship opportunity! It does require an essay 1000+ words, but it is worth $3,500! The full details of the scholarship are attached.
Here is a brief idea of what the essay should be about:
How does conflict within one’s self increase the likelihood of violence in the world? How can we cultivate values, emotions, and habits of peace every day in our daily lives as citizens in order to reduce the level of violent conflict in the world?
Deadline: Monday, April 28, 2014.

S-STEM Scholarships Application | College of Science & Engineering | SUU Background: The National Science Foundation has awarded SUU an S-STEM Grant which will provide a total of $100,000 for 15 student scholarships this academic year. Under appropriate fulfillment of academic requirements, this may be a continuing, yearly scholarship up to a student’s graduation.

BYU is offering a camp this summer that is designed to teach students how to write college entry essays as well as the writing portion of the ACT. The camp is being taught by Meredith Reed, a full-time BYU writing professor.

Friends, through UEN’s work with Utah research universities and the CI-WATER grant, CI-WATER will be offering scholarships for two high school students to the University of Utah Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute Innovation Week on July 14-17, 2014.
Applicants must agree to participate in the full week’s activities. Overnight stay is optional, but students wishing to stay overnight should indicate that in their response. During the week, students will develop a game or app on a water topic, like water conservation, water in the west, water sustainability, etc. Scholarship recipients are asked to share their project at a meeting with water researchers in Salt Lake City in September. Mileage will be reimbursed for students traveling to the September meeting >50 miles each way. The scholarship will cover registration and the optional overnight stay on campus.
Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on March 20, 2014 . Students apply online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2F2Z5HT with parent/guardian permission.
Preference will be given to students from groups that are underrepresented in STEM fields, including rural, female, and minority students. Please help pass the word to science and technology teachers in your area.
