Give me a minute and hear my heart through this story:
It’s a Wednesday morning. You are wrangling two kids AND have a hurt ankle.

You’re late but you still make it to class. And then this happens…

You sit with us in the circle and exhale a sigh of RELIEF.
Another mom gives you a knowing smile and you RELAX.

You and your little ones enjoy uninterrupted TIME. You watch as your little one anticipates the next word in the song and plays it on the drum (see video). You smile as your youngest watches the older sibling and mimics what they do. Your voice joins theirs as we follow the leaves downward with our singing voices 🍃

Our voices matter. ❤️

One of my favorite things about our Family Music and Movement classes is that everyone joins in. Babies babble, toddlers match pitch , grown-ups sing and clap…it matter your age or whether you think you’re “good” at singing. Every voice belongs and has a part in our community of voices.

When we sing, speak, and participate alongside our children, we’re showing them that their voices matter too. They learn by watching us. They learn that it’s important to be heard, to take up space, and to express themselves.

Today, our little ones had two brave choices during our crocodile song: they could let the crocodile “snap” their finger, or they could confidently say, “Not today, crocodile!” 💚

Both choices were beautiful.
Both were brave.
Both were powerful.

Bravery doesn’t always look the same. Sometimes it’s trying something new. Sometimes it’s setting a boundary. Both are worth celebrating.

The world needs kind, confident voices now more than ever. We don’t wake up one day magically knowing how to speak up for ourselves or others. We 👏🏻 PRACTICE 👏🏻. We practice through play, through music, through laughter, and through singing together.

So come sing with us! Not because you have a “perfect” voice, but because your voice is important. And someone little is listening. 🎶 👂

A mom told me last week that her husband has been wanting to see what Family Music is all about because their toddler’s speech has exploded since starting class. Until now, he’s always been working during our weekday classes. But now he finally gets to come on a Saturday, and I just love that. 🥹
