Meet our mentors for our first Cohort, Matt (left) and Jacob (right)!

This all started because Jacob wanted to send his brother to a web development bootcamp after his mission and kept thinking to himself “If only Matt taught at a bootcamp still...” After preparing the course work and gathering the students, they made it happen!

Ultimately, HTMElephant was started by these two web-development bootcamp graduates who had a passion for education. Together, they led frequent training sessions and collaborative educational projects to lead fellow developers to new technologies and practices.

After repeatedly being frustrated by stories from friends and family attending the same bootcamps they once learned so much from, they decided to turn their energy toward creating our own education system and spread their love for technology while embracing their love for teaching. We are still teaching our classes and would love to see in our next cohort!

Our last student highlight, but certainly not least, is Kyle!

Kyle joined our cohort with only a very basic knowledge of web development. His skills grew quickly, as well as his confidence, which allowed him to create the great apps that he did.

Within the first month of class, Kyle made a website that promised instant musical skill after a small payment. This website had multiple pages for the different instruments of which skills you were about to have bestowed and videos for each.

By the end of the cohort, Kyle decided to challenge himself to strengthen his skill with writing complex logical operations to create an app that trains you on music theory. Well done, Kyle!

Our next student highlight is Devin!

Devin made an informational site for his personal auto detailing business in the first 4 weeks of class.

By the last half of the cohort, Devin decided to use skills to build something practical that he would use everyday at work. He built an automated site to quote his detailing clients based on their VIN, make & model of their cars! We are proud of him using his newfound coding skills for something he will use daily, and will make his business flow with ease.

Our first student highlight is Nate!

During the first 4 weeks of class, our students learned HTML and CSS. Nate made a website for managing an inventory of video games. His site showed a clear understanding of web frameworks and styling from the beginning.

Next, he learned Javascript, Node, SQL, and React. Nate now had a game library, and 2 games under his belt. Clearly a theme in his interests - Nate used everything we covered previously to build his app: Game Shelf.

Nate grasped these languages quickly and was able to execute all of his ideas flawlessly. We can't wait to see where his knowledge takes him!

Earlier this year, we were proud to present HTMElephant's first cohort their certificates of completion. All of these students were incredibly dedicated and accomplished so much!
