Twic County Commissioner and 3 officials from Abyei Arrested in Juba

The commissioner of Twic county, Hon. Deng Tong Goc has been arrested this evening in Juba by Vice President for Service Cluster, Hussein Abdelbagi Akol Ayii who is also the Head of Aneet Investigation Committee.

Hussein invited the commissioner in his house in Thongping residence this evening and after a few minutes a tinted car came and commissioner Deng was ordered to get into the car and taken to unknown location, a source who requested for anonymity said.

The source who remained unknown for the fear of repracussion, said that the commissioner of Rummer county, commissioner of Alal County and Minister of Physical Infrastructures, Hon. Mayot Kunit from Abyei Administrative Area were also arrested at Juba International Airport upon their arrival from Abyei today under the directives of VP Hussein Abdelbagi Akol.

Twic county commissioner and those officials from Abyei were invited to Juba for a meeting with the investigation committee about renewed fighting between Twic-Ngok on date 8th and 9th of May 2022.

Abyei armed youth together with Abyei mission forces attack Athony, Malual Aleu, and Nyanlou village near Nyin Deng Ayuel in Twic county, South of Kiir River on date 8th and 9th, May 2022, a move that has violated ceasefire agreement signed in Aweil.

The fighting between Twic-Ngok erupted in February this year after Abyei Administration government officials surveyed Aneet market in North of Twic county, Warrap State.
