ANSEP Middle School Academy

The Alaska Native Science & Engineering Program (ANSEP) Middle School Academy will be hosting the 2026 Academy this fall in October.

ANSEP Middle School Academy is an academic and residential experience that emphasizes increasing students’ mathematics and science knowledge and skills while introducing them to college life. ANSEP promotes science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education. Each day, students will participate in activities that include problem solving, research, critical thinking and communication skills. Industry professionals, university faculty and ANSEP staff will lead activities. This opportunity is possible and provided for free through a partnership with the Northwest Arctic Borough School District.

Who should apply?​​​​​​​be obtained from each
NWABSD students currently in grades 6, 7 or 8, who:​​​school’s main office.
• Are interested in STEM​​​​​
• Have at least a B average in science and mathematics courses,
• Have not attended a previous ANSEP Middle School Academy on the UAA campus,
• Are on track (or can get on-track) to complete Algebra 1 before entering high school

**Include all application documents together in one packet. Only complete applications will be considered. The complete application packet should be turned into your school’s front office by September 25, 2026. DO NOT mail in paper applications; online applications are also available for electronic submissions.
