✨ I’m not sure photos can fully capture what happened in this room last night.
There was just something magical about it.
The energy. The laughter. The conversations. The connections being made between women who may have walked in as strangers and left feeling like they were part of something.
We began the evening with Episode 3 of BALANCE: A Perimenopause Journey, the documentary series that has been the heartbeat of our Summer Series. Each week, BALANCE: A Perimenopause Docuseries has opened the door to honest conversations about what women experience in perimenopause and menopause, and last night was no exception.
And then Dr. Funke Afolabi-Brown of Funke Afolabi-Brown MD, FAFunke Afolabi-Brown MD, FAASMen deeper.
She was absolutely incredible. Smart, warm, engaging, and so generous with her knowledge. She took something so many women quietly struggle with, sleep, stress, hormones, and those 3 AM wake-ups, and made us feel informed, understood, and hopeful.
But what stays with me most is the feeling in the room.
Women talking to one another. Sharing stories. Asking questions. Meeting practitioners and local wellness partners. Realizing, sometimes for the first time, “Wait…you too?”
THAT is what I hoped periPower could be.
Not just an event.
A place where women come together to learn about their health, connect with people who can support them, and connect with each other.
Last night felt like that vision coming to life.
And it was pretty damn magical. đź’›
I was also incredibly honored to welcome Marie Capozzi from Let’s Talk Menopause , whoLet’s Talk Menopausey from Brooklyn to spend the evening with us. Their work educating, advocating for, and supporting women through menopause has meant so much to me and to periPower, and having Marie in the room made an already special night even more meaningful.
Thank you to every single person who walked through those doors and helped create that feeling.
One more Wednesday night remains in the periPower Summer Series. One more episode of BALANCE. One more incredible expert. And one more night together.
After last night, my heart is very, very full. đź’›
