What if we stopped just reacting to the headlines and started preventing them?

Every day we see another post about a DWI arrest, a shooting, drugs, violence, or another young person making a life-changing decision. It’s easy to comment on the problem. It’s harder—but far more important—to become part of the solution.

Andrea’s Project is calling on everyone who wants to see real change in our community to join the Panhandle Prevention & Intervention Coalition.

We’re bringing together parents, youth, schools, law enforcement, healthcare, faith leaders, businesses, nonprofits, and community members who are ready to get to the root of what’s happening and work together to create lasting solutions.

We know that when young people have access to alcohol and other drugs, the risk of impaired driving, violence, crime, and other harmful behaviors increases. Prevention is about addressing those root causes before another family experiences tragedy.

Andrea’s Project was founded after 17-year-old Andrea Elizalde was killed by an impaired driver. We can’t change what happened to Andrea, but we can honor her by working together to prevent it from happening to someone else’s child.

This isn’t just another meeting. It’s an opportunity to help shape the future of our community.

Our amazing seniors have crossed the threshold of high school life. They have be leaders and role models for the student body these last four years. Now they set off to be leaders in the world. We couldn’t be more proud of you all! Once a Sandie, Always a Sandie!

AHS Prom 2026 in the books. We have a wonderful group of students that works for months behind the scenes to make this happen. It was a wonderful night in Rio.
