Last summer I was leaving a meeting at Starbucks when I noticed a little girl completely absorbed in a book. ❤️

A real book! In the wild! 🤩

As I visited with her mom (who was also reading), I remember thinking: What if this didn’t feel so rare anymore? What if kids saw more kids reading books out in the real world?

That moment helped spark an idea we’ve been dreaming about ever since…

📚 𝙎𝙋𝙊𝙏𝙏𝙀𝘿 𝙍𝙀𝘼𝘿𝙄𝙉𝙂 📚

Beginning this week, Storybridge Reading Scouts have been on the lookout for kids reading books out in the world — at restaurants, waiting rooms, parks, ballgames, grocery stores, wherever! We have five winners already!! 🎉

Kids who are “spotted reading” may receive:
⭐ an “I Was Spotted Reading” button
⭐ a free book from Burrowing Owl Books
⭐ a free kids meal from Jason’s Deli in Wolflin
⭐ a social media shoutout

If you’re following our page, chances are really good you KNOW reading matters. What we need is to make reading feel normal. Visible. Celebrated.

So here’s your assignment, Amarillo:
✔️ Remind your kids to BRING THEIR BOOK(S) when you go out
✔️ Encourage any kids you see reading (we won’t be able to find them all so we need your help celebrating them!)
✔️ Let them spot you reading, too 😉

If you haven’t applied for the Extended School Day (ESD) program yet, don't worry—it’s not too late, but you’ll want to jump on it quickly!

Last Pep Rally of the school year! We honored our Strivers, Achievers, and Conquistador Pride recipients. We also honored our 2nd graders who won Lemonade Day awards. Three lucky kiddos’ names were drawn for glow note prizes. Mrs. Ried’s class won the Attendance Championship trophy and 4th grade won the Attendance MVP. And … 5th grade won the Spirit Stick!
