P-16 promotes success across the education continuum helping students to become successful citizen
The Texas Panhandle P-16 Council is a consortium of Texas Panhandle Universities, all regional Community Colleges, 62 Panhandle Independent School Districts, Region 16 Education Service Center, representatives from Early Childhood and the community. The Texas Panhandle P-16 Council was formed to unify curriculum from pre-school through the senior year of college. The Council looks at ways to close-the-gaps in education, making it available to all.

Region 16 would like to congratulate Spearman Junior High on being named a 2021 Blue Ribbon School. Spearman Junior High is just one of 325 schools recognized today by U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona as a National Blue Ribbon School. The recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. You make us all proud Spearman ISD. Keep up the amazing work!

Long-time friend and educator, Karla Weatherly, has gone from kindergarten teacher at Bivins Elementary to the head of the P-16 Texas Panhandle at Region 16 since she met Anette as the kindergarten teacher of Anette's oldest son, Walker. Karla has worn a variety of educator hats in this time, and has never strayed far from her early childhood beginnings. Now she connects those to college completion through her work on the P-16 council, and here shares her expertise across all educational levels. Thanks, Karla!
