Amarillo College graduates Brianna Saucedo and Euly Casias will be giving a free, public gallery talk on their photography at 11 AM Tuesday, Sept. 22, in the Southern Light Gallery on the first floor of Ware Student Commons.

The exhibition showcases Saucedo’s “LOVE IRL”—an exploration of technology’s impact on intimacy—and Casias’s digitally composited fantasy series of mermaids in ornate, hand-crafted frames. The exhibition remains on display through Sept. 30.

Amarillo College students interested in healthcare can connect directly with potential employers and university representatives during the Health Sciences Career and Transfer Fair on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 10 AM to 2 PM at the new West Campus Simulation Center. Free and open to both current and prospective healthcare students, this event features networking opportunities, transfer information, free snacks, and guided tours of AC's state-of-the-art simulation facility.

Amarillo College has named Dr. David Woodburn and Dr. Paul Proffer as its 2026 Distinguished Alumni, honoring their healthcare careers and decades of service as AC regents. Both men began their higher education at AC, where encouraging faculty inspired Woodburn to pursue dentistry and Proffer to pursue medicine. They will be celebrated at a special luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 30.

Beyond their respective professional practices, both honorees have deeply invested in the region and the institution. Dr. Woodburn has spearheaded extensive local and international free dental missions alongside serving on numerous civic boards, while Dr. Proffer helped champion the return of AC athletics and established a student athlete scholarship as part of a generational family legacy at the college.

Once anxious behind the wheel, Angela Newton has now completed the first certificate in Amarillo College’s Professional Truck Operations program and is preparing for a career as a commercial driver.

Newton overcame significant hurdles to finish the program, including juggling family life, a 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. work shift, and evening classes. With the encouragement of her instructors and classmates, she mastered intimidating technical skills, such as passing complex pre-trip and in-cab inspections and training through real-world weather conditions.

The experience boosted her self-confidence and inspired her to continue her education. Newton is currently working toward her hazardous materials and doubles/triples endorsements to expand her future career opportunities.
