I started this a few months back and made a few adjustments in preparation for our First Friday Art walk up at This piece (and others) are available. Come and see me! The August event is always jam packed with the Best of the Southwest exhibit, lots of vendors, food trucks, and fun!

I love it in all seasons! Just don’t go out there without a plan, a hat, and at least a gallon of water.

Texas, our Texas! 🌻

This may be my favorite piece I’ve ever painted. I was at the height of an intense painting season and all those many pieces gave me so much.

This is Miel d’été 12x18” pastel on paper. This translates to “Summer Honey” 🌻

These babies needed a good cleaning. I usually only clean small batches of pastels in cornmeal. For my bigger studio box I use Viva paper towels so I can keep my sections more organized. This little Heilman Designs box is my Palo Duro Canyon State Park plein air set! I prefer to have a “warms” and “cools” side instead of a more strict hue/value arrangement.

The cornmeal works great! Check out how dirty it gets. (Just don’t eat it after!)

A look back. I’m still in love with it. The girl then has been through some things. Haven’t we all?
