Last week, we hosted the TCOLE Basic Instructor Course with TMPA at the Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy. Another set of officers is now ready to go out and train their peers.

Bryan Flatt wrapped up the week at Amarillo College teaching the Basic Instructor Course to officers from across the Texas Panhandle.

Texas DPS, Amarillo PD, Canyon PD, Moore County S.O., Texas Tech PD, Pampa PD, Randall County S.O., and Hutchinson County S.O. were all represented.

Today we hosted 100+ fifth graders from Wills and San Jacinto Elementary at the Amarillo College First Responders Academy for a powerful presentation by Chris Herren. He shared his personal journey through substance abuse, addiction, and the life experiences that led him there—helping students better understand the dangers and, more importantly, how to ask for help when they need it.

We wrapped up the visit with a hands-on look at our academy, where fire cadets demonstrated skills training and even ignited a car fire prop—definitely a highlight for the kids.

We’re grateful they spent the morning with us and hope they carry these lessons forward, make strong choices, and maybe one day return as future first responders.
