I understand the concept in which people say the brain is a “muscle” and you’ve got to keep getting in more reps, but I think this can also send the wrong message.

I use the phrase “work smarter not harder” often, because you can work yourself into an emotional disaster and pit that takes forever to come out of.

Yes, having great work ethic should be a standard you hold yourself to, but at the same time, you’re not doing your loved ones a service if you’re operating from exhaustion.
