Coyote Flight Centers, LLC
Flight training, tours, aerial photography, wildlife surveys, pipeline patrols, and more. Many of our students have gone on to pursue a career in aviation.
Coyote Flight and Training Center is the place to train in the Texas panhandle. Unlike most schools our average student earns their first certificate in 40-50 hours. They learn to be safe and confident in their mastery of an airplane. Our instructors are seasoned veterans who include airline pilots and certificated mechanics. We live and breathe aviation. Sharing our passion is our full-time job. At Coyote we train pilots because we are pilots.

Sometimes bad stuff happens. The pilot community is one of the few that always has each other's backs.

Ladies and gentlemen, a gentle reminder to practice landing by using their eyes and their pilot-y skills. Too much use of the auto-lander, the PAPI, or other technology can result in severe headaches.

Definitely a HOT potato. Women and minorities in aviation.
But...this issue is NOT caused by women, and it is NOT caused by minorities. DEI may play a role, but the root cause lies with the instructors who are providing primary flight instruction to new student pilots.
According to the FAA Aviation Instructor's Handbook, it is their job to act as gaurdians of aviation and create an environment conducive to the establishment of good ideas and habits. It is their responsibility to create pilots who are both successful and safe.
In the early 2000's, when the airline pilots began to retire, a void was created in the aviation world. Prior to this, the majority of people in the aviation world were enthusiasts who loved all things with wings. It was not just a cool job to them, it was something they were passionate about.
As the void grew larger, non-aviation businesses saw an opportunity to make money and began building their own aviation training programs. Instead of hiring highly experienced instructors for primary flight training, they began hiring young instructors with very little experience. Many of these new training programs advertrised 0 to professional in less than a year.
Compounding the situation was the surge in available technology. In the early 2000's the iPad and other tablets became available as electronic flight bags. Many of them had built in GPS and flight computers that put data and calculations at our fingertips automatically. We as pilots no longer had to train as hard to achieve the same results. The result is many of these newly minted professional pilots rely too heavily on modern technology in the cockpit.
At the end of the day, it is our job as instructors to gaurantee that those we sign off for checkrides are trained to the highest of standards. Passing them through just to make a dollar, or letting them rely on technology becayse it is easier, endangers peoples lives.
Despite Trump’s efforts, airline DEI programs are still risking people’s lives Three million Americans will board a plane today assuming the pilot earned that seat through merit. They shouldn’t. For decades, airlines have subordinated safety to diversity quotas. The Federal A…

Let's all give a warm welcome to Dr. Lauren Knight, our new AME! She is a huge supporter of aviation and is looking forward to helping pilots stay in the cockpit. If you have questions about medical issues, she is available for consultation prior to your medical examination. Feel free to call us if you have any questions. We can reach out to her directly or you can check out our website for details on how to contact her clinic.

Hand propping an Aircraft....
So....I was out with the mechanics working on a 100hour when we noticed a white Cessna 172 with maroon lettering near the fuel pumps. The instructor was attempting to hand prop the airplane. He was doing so from the front of the propellor by leaning on it.
As I walked over to the airplane, I noticed a student in the front seat and the instructor continued to hand prop the plane. I introduced myself and then asked if he needed a tow. The fellow said that he did not, that his battery was bad and his mechanic was fixing to go through the airplane with a fine tooth comb.
Realizing that he was going to continue hand propping, I showed him the correct way to do it, and then explained to him that hand propping is extremely dangerous and should be attempted only in an emergency. Then I left the fellow to his own devices.
As I returned to my hangar, the instructor got the plane started and then he and his student went flying.
So why am I sharing this story? Because there are several things Id like to point out....
1) It might be temptng to hand prop an airplane, but doing so is extremely dangerous. A propellor is capable of breaking every bone in your body.
2) I would also like to point out that this is how accidents happen. Knowlingly flying an airplane with this kind of issue is dangerous. Why is the battery dead? I know for a fact the airplane has been flying. So are there issues with the alternator? The correct course of action is to ground the plane and address the underlying issue.
3) Instructors teach their students more than just what is covered in the flight lesson. They watch and they mimic us. We instructors need to be extra careful as to what we teach our students. If we dont want them doing it then we shouldnt do it either.

Yes, what some people call "chem trails" is a mispronunciation of the original term which is "contrails".
There are two main causes. First, as air flows between the low pressure area on top of the wing and the high pressure area on the bottom of the wing, condensation sometimes forms. At extremely high altitudes, where the temperature can be as low as -50°F, the condensation instantly freezes into ice crystals and are swept from the back of the wing leaving a trail in the sky.
The second cause comes from the combustion of fuel. Fuel is a hydro carbon and when combined with oxygen under heat produces water v***r and CO gas. The water v***r cools and is then exposed to cold temperatures of altitude where again, a trail of ice crystals is left.
