Dear families,

Last week I accepted an offer from Damon and Julie Courtney to purchase Forest Path Academy. The Courtneys have been involved with the school for over a decade with their three children. They planned to start a new hybrid program and came to me proposing taking over the Forest Path Academy property and program. The Courtneys plan to keep the same schedule and teachers for the upcoming school year to minimize any disruption. I will be finishing out the school year and then retiring from the program at the end of the school year. The piano recital on May 17th will be my last day at the school.

The Courtneys will be communicating with families regarding the upcoming school year. The new school name will be Meadow Creek Academy and the website to register for classes and contact them is www.meadowcreekacademy.com

I will retain the Friendswood Music and Forest Path Academy names, and plan to continue to develop the curricula I have created at Forest Path Academy. I will continue Music and More in a much more limited fashion- I will offer a limited number of private piano lessons and plan to offer Kindermusik classes and perhaps some other classes in the future at my home after I take a well-deserved break.

There will be no summer camps scheduled this summer, however I may offer some limited pop up “Animal Encounter” classes this summer at my home. Please follow Friendswood Music and More on Facebook if you are interested in classes I may offer in the future or would like to take private piano lessons with me starting in June.

I started Music and More over 25 years ago teaching Kindermusik out of my home, and continued to grow the program until we were hugely disrupted by the Covid crisis. Covid was devastating for the school and put many of my long term plans such as playgrounds and outdoor environments on hold. I had never planned to sell the school, but given the current economic uncertainty and my husband’s status as a federal employee, this seemed like a good opportunity to retire and move on to new things, especially as my children have all (mostly) graduated from the program. The Courtneys have many plans for upgrading and improving the business property, and I know they will preserve the legacy and character of the school moving into the future.

I hope you know that I have loved all of your children and tried to care for them as if they were my own.

Our Garden Club members are in the process of converting our old piano into a large planter! We have Garden Club M/W afternoons, contact us for more info. We have 5 acres, so lots of outdoor space for the kiddos ♥️🌿🌿☀️

We are going to go ahead and cancel summer camps and art/music classes tomorrow, Tuesday July 9th, to give everyone a change to clean up and recover from Beryl. I know many of us are without power and cell service. We will have normal class on Wed and Thursday. I will contact my students to reschedule piano lessons. If you are scheduled with Kawanna please contact her directly regarding your lessons.

We at Friendswood Music and More are closely watching the forecast for the coming week. If the forecast predicts flooding and severe rainfall on Monday we will cancel our Out of This World! summer camps scheduled on Monday, and possibly Tuesday as well depending on the forecast. You will be credited for any cancelled camp. At this time we plan to have normal classes on Wed and Thursday, and possibly a makeup day on Friday. Please check your emails tomorrow and Sunday. We are having fairy tale fun this week- still some space left for tomorrow and Wed! 9-2, prek and k/1st this week. $50/day. We did Jack and the Beanstalk today, lots of fairies tomorrow!
