🌙💤 Students Teaching Students: Sleep Disorders Poster Project! 💤🌙

Our Polysomnography students at Alvin College put their knowledge into action by educating others about sleep disorders through our Sleep Disorders Poster Project! 🧠💙

This project gave students the opportunity to share important information about sleep health, raise awareness about sleep disorders, and help others understand just how important quality sleep is to our overall health and well-being.

🏆 And the winner is… T’Alicia McKindly and her poster covering Insomnia! 🎉👏

Students voted for their favorite poster, and T’Alicia took home the top spot! Congratulations, T’Alicia, and great job to ALL of our students for their creativity, hard work, and dedication to spreading awareness about sleep disorders!

Who knew learning about sleep could be so exciting? 😴✨

Our sophomores are working hard learning advanced testing modalities. Today’s lesson, running an MSLT. An MSLT or multiple sleep latency test is used to determine how sleepy someone is during the day despite getting a full night of sleep. This test is used to help diagnose disorders of hypersomnolence like narcolepsy type 1 and 2 or idiopathic hypersomnia.

Thank you to Alvin College student services for helping the all of the students get to Round rock for the Texas Society of Sleep Professionals conference. **happy hour for the students meant a friendly game of heads up between students and experienced techs.
