Earlier this month, Alvin College Upward Bound students visited the Houston Maritime Museum. From historic vessels to hands-on learning experiences, students gained a deeper understanding of how maritime trade and transportation have shaped our region and continue to impact our economy today.

Today, Alvin College recognizes Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States and honors the significance of freedom, history, and progress!

Alvin College will open as scheduled for Wednesday, June 17. Due to the heavy rain in some parts of the region we urge students and staff to be cautious when traveling to the campus this morning.

Alvin College staff is aware of the potential for inclement weather and will continue monitoring weather conditions for tomorrow, June 17. Stay tuned for further updates.

Our Upward Bound students visited iFLY, where they learned about careers in science, technology, engineering, and math—and then got to experience the excitement of indoor skydiving for themselves!

Congratulations to our Lady Dolphins Softball team for earning multiple NFCA, NJCAA, and Region XIV Academic All-American honors during the 2026 season!🥎

The players named to the NFCA team include: Isabelle Doggett, Sophie Brammer, Alexxis Moreno, Elana Luna, Haley Garcia, Katelynn Torres, Allison Ramos, Alyssa Acosta and Bailey Glaesmann. Brammer, Doggett, and Moreno also received the honor in 2025.

The students had to maintain a 3.5 GPA to be named to the Academic All-American Team for NFCA. To be named to the NJCAA All Academic team, students must maintain a 3.6 or higher while the Region XIV requires a 3.25 GPA or higher.

The team is coming off an excellent 2026 season where they posted a 29-24 record and a 15-9 record against conference opponents. They also advanced deep into the NJCAA Region XIV playoffs.
