The AAHS Alumni Association announces AAHS Alumni Band Day 2026, Friday, September 4, 2026 at Mansion Park Stadium where the Mt. Lions take on Central Dauphin. This is also the Mt. Lions’ Altoona Football League Night, recognizing upcoming future grid stars and their coaches.

A special welcome to new AAHS Band Director, Brandon Kunder, as he conducts his first official Alumni Band Day event!

Registration can be made at www.aahsalumni.org or by stopping in the AAHS Alumni Association Office located at 1201 Eighth Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602. Registration includes a maroon Alumni Band commemorative t-shirt and a buffet dinner. Instruments are available upon request. All former band members, majorettes, color guard and silk corps members are invited. Registration is $30 for AAHS Alumni Association members and $35 for non-members. Deadline to register is August 9, 2026.

Happy June and almost summer, everyone! The Sun is nearing its apex for us in the Northern Hemisphere, as the summer solstice or longest day of the year arrives this Sunday!

Next Friday, June 26th at 8:00PM the Mt. Lion Observatory at Fort Roberdeau celebrates the the kickoff of their summer program schedule. Join guest speaker- Mr. Tim Gleason from Penn State University- as he shares "Pennsylvania's Worst Day: the Chesapeake Bay Impact" on our outdoor Observatory screen, followed by an evening sky watch with the Starlight Astronomy Club!

Come enjoy the dark summer skies of Sinking Valley next Friday, with a backup rain date of Saturday the 27th.

PIAA State Track & Field Champion!

The AASD School Board honored Hannah O. last evening for capturing the gold medal in the triple jump at the PIAA State Track & Field Championships! 🥇

Hannah absolutely crushed it, proving hard work, dedication and talent pay off. You've made your school, coaches and team incredibly proud!!

Due to the restriping of the track surface, Mansion Park will be closed to the public beginning at 11:30 a.m. this morning, June 15, and will reopen to the public on Wednesday, June 17 at 6:00 a.m.
