The Iowa Summer Games is a wrap!!!
16 students braved the elements and competed in Forms, Team Forms, Weapons, Sparring, and Breaking.
In all, ECTKD took home:
12 - 1st Place
15 - 2nd Place
14 - 3rd Place
Super proud of everyone this weekend!
Our biggest wins weren't just medalsβthey were watching people accomplish things they've been working hard to achieve.
:boom: Several students overcame challenges they had been struggling with.
:boom: Some stepped up and joined team forms just 20 seconds before the event!
:boom: One of our newest students, with only a couple of months of training, had the courage to compete.
:boom: Several instructors volunteered to judge, and one of our high-ranking students was a steady rock for teammates who needed support throughout the day.
:trophy: Tournament Highlight :trophy:
After the competition, a father came up to me to thank two of our purple belts. He shared how much their kindness, positivity, and encouragement meant to his son. He had been hesitant to continue sparring, but our students welcomed him in, told him how much fun it would be, and made him feel like he belonged.
We had just talked about this very thing in class.
As both a teacher and a father, hearing another father become emotional while talking about the impact our students had on his son made the entire day worthwhile.
Winning medals is great, but building confident, kind people who lift others up is what truly matters.
I believe we have an incredible group of students who are helping build a happier worldβand that's exactly what we need.
