Meet another happy grad, Cory! Cory knew that earning his credential was one step toward becoming self-sufficient, and with that goal in mind he began his GED journey.
In just three months, Cory had passed his first three tests; only math stood between him and that diploma. But—as many GED grads will attest—GED math is A LOT to tackle. Cory chipped away at it, and the Adult Ed staff and
volunteers kept working with Cory, but progress was not coming easily. Fortunately for Cory, his mom, grandma, and counselor were there
pushing him toward the finish line. And finish he did! Cory’s passing math score was cause for celebration to more than just Cory!
Congrats, Cory, we are so very happy for you!

It was a long time in coming, but we are very happy to announce that Michele is a graduate! Michele started in the AASD Adult Ed Program planning to get her GED, possibly attend post-secondary training of some kind, and then get a good job. Within a little over a year, she had passed her first three tests. But then life got in the way. Michele didn’t give up, though. She came back after a couple of years and worked really hard both in and out of class on her math, sometimes spending 8 or more hours a day practicing in IXL! Again in 2025 her education was interrupted, but when Michele came back in 2026, there was no stopping her.
Michele is thrilled to have achieved her credential, and we couldn’t be happier for her! Congratulations, Michele!

Gable’s building project seeking artists
It isn’t ideal for the downtown’s largest anchor property to be dormant at a time when a large contingent of out-of-town visitors is expected in connection with a major one-time event. But local officials are trying to make the best of the Gable’s building being in transition this summer as a ...
