October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and the hearts of Willowbrook teachers and staff are with the survivors, those currently fighting, and the families affected by this terrible disease. 🎀

Recently, breast cancer has hit far too close to home for our Willowbrook family, making this month especially meaningful to all of us.

So we wear PINK. We stand together. We show our love and support. And we remind those facing this battle that you are not alone. 💗

🚒🚑 Kindergarten had some very special visitors Monday from the Altoona Fire Department! ❤️🔥

Our students learned all about fire safety and the important work paramedics do to help keep our community safe! What a great opportunity to learn from our local heroes!

A huge THANK YOU to the Altoona Fire Department for taking the time to visit and share your knowledge with us! 👨‍🚒👏🏻

Mrs. Dowhan’s Level 3 classroom recently enjoyed their first field trip of the school year! 🚌📚

Students visited the Altoona Public Library, where they participated in a class, explored the library, and enjoyed some playtime at the nearby park! 🛝☀️

Community-based field trips are so much more than just a fun day away from school! They provide valuable opportunities to practice communication, social skills, independence, and everyday life skills in real-world settings. These experiences help students build confidence, develop a sense of belonging, and become more comfortable navigating their community.

Learning doesn’t just happen inside the classroom, and every opportunity to explore the world around us is a step toward greater independence! 🖤💛

Our fourth graders celebrated collecting the MOST pop tabs with a delicious popsicle party today! 🍦🙌🏻

Keep collecting those pop tabs to support Ronald McDonald House Charities! ❤️ Every little tab makes a difference!

📚 Next month, the class that collects the most pop tabs will earn a special reading time with a snack! 📖🍪
