A huge thank you to the Altoona Symphony Orchestra & Altoona Symphony Orchestra Educational Outreach & Youth Orchestra for providing our students with opportunities to attend the concert! Students pictured and not pictured attended this past weekend’s “Quests” symphony concert. Many of them are in the Altoona Youth Symphony Orchestra, and a bonus was getting to see their Altoona music teachers perform in the concert too! 🎻🎶

A fun morning yesterday for the high school music department! The Altoona Symphony Orchestra visited the Choral, Band, and Orchestra students featuring one of their four conductor applicants, Isaac Selya, who spoke with students about music, why students may want to study music, and opportunities that are available for those who love and study music before performing for them as well.

Selya is highly sought after as a conductor, entrepreneur, scholar, and educator. He is the music director for the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, principal conductor of the Cave Run Symphony Orchestra, and founder and artistic director of Queen City Opera.

Isaac was joined by members of the Altoona Symphony community outreach team.

The Altoona Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Mishler on Saturday, September 26 beginning at 7:30 PM. This concert will be under the direction of Isaac Selya.

Today, students in the high school string Orchestra got a visit from Jason Aylward of the Johnstown Symphony Orchestra! Jason spent his morning working with low string players, and conducting and rehearsing the group. We are so grateful to be able to give the students these opportunities, and thank you to Jason for giving of your time to be with us today! 🎶🎻

Such a fun start to our first ever Elementary String Camp. The kids are learning so much! We’re spending lots of time working on our bow holds, posture, and playing and reading music, and are also playing lots or steady beat and rhythm games. Thanks so much to our always supportive administration and to the JH for so graciously hosting camp. This has been such a great experience!!🎻🎶

One final field trip for the 2025–2026 school year! Our 6th grade students of the Altoona Junior High Fine Arts Department enjoyed the day at Kennywood Park. So much fun was had by all.

We received many compliments from park staff and visitors as we walked around the park - particularly on their behavior, politeness, and overall kindness from our group. We are incredibly proud of all they have achieved and the positive way they represented Altoona throughout the trip.

Thank you to our students for making the day so enjoyable, to our chaperones for their support, and to our families for encouraging and supporting the arts all year long. We hope everyone has a safe, relaxing, and well-deserved summer break! 🎢🎶☀️
