• You’ll have 60 days from the letter date to fund your donation

Georgia Student Scholarship Organization allows you to choose how YOUR tax dollars are spent, help YOUR children in their education, and help the schools of your choice. We have helped over 135 schools and have provided more than $80 million dollars in tuition scholarships supporting preK-12th grade. 🎉

Today, we had the opportunity to meet with Representative Jim Rigby for a great conversation about the impact RedefinED has made in our region and the meaningful funding he has helped bring to the area.

With the upcoming opt-in requirement for the federal tax credit program, it is imperative that we all engage and speak with our representatives to help Governor Josh Shapiro understand the benefits his decision will bring to all students by choosing to opt in.

Virginia Makes History as the First State to Opt In to the Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program

History was made this week when Virginia officially became the first state in the nation to opt in to the new Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program. This decision marks a major milestone for education choice, student opportunity, and the future of school funding across the United States.

For families, schools, and donors alike, Virginia’s move sends a clear message. Educational access matters, and states can lead the way in creating sustainable, scalable pathways for students to thrive.

What Is the Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program?

The Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program allows individuals and businesses to receive a federal tax credit for donations made to approved Scholarship Granting Organizations. Those organizations then award scholarships to eligible students, helping families access the K to 12 education options that best meet their needs.

Unlike traditional funding models, this program relies on private donations incentivized through the tax code. The result is increased scholarship availability without drawing from state education budgets.

Virginia’s opt-in formally unlocks this opportunity for students across the Commonwealth.

Our hearts are overflowing with joy as we celebrate the arrival of baby Rhett, born on January 7th. Our incredible VP of Strategy, Brooke Stephens, officially stepped into her newest and most important role yet, Mom!

We could not be happier for Brooke and her husband, Matt, as they begin this beautiful new chapter together. Rhett is already so loved, and we know he is incredibly lucky to have such wonderful parents.

As Brooke soaks in these first precious weeks, she will be on maternity leave, taking well-deserved time away to focus on her family, rest, and this unforgettable season of life. We are so grateful for her leadership and fully support her in taking this time.

Today’s conversation was all about what it looks like to partner with RedefinED and how intentional strategy, structure, and support can completely change the trajectory of a school’s funding and sustainability. David Neyer and the organization’s leadership deeply aligns with our mission driven team, and that shared commitment to students and families is what makes this partnership so impactful.

We have been intentionally preparing to help Georgia schools maximize their state scholarship programs today while also positioning them to raise significantly more through the Federal Tax Credit Program when it launches. Starting tomorrow, we are ready to do exactly that.
