🥋💙 THE HEART OF STRATEGIC BJJ IS IN OUR COACHES! 💙🥋
If you ever want to know what the heart of our gym looks like, look at who’s sitting beside the competition mats, cheering from the sidelines, and working behind the scenes to make sure everything comes together.
Yesterday was a perfect reminder of how lucky we are to have the people we do.
A huge, heartfelt thank-you to Coach Keith, Coach Corbin, Coach Dave, and Coach Natalie. 💙
Competition days are LONG. They’re loud, chaotic, exhausting, emotional, and sometimes downright stressful. There are matches to track, mats to run between, nervous competitors to reassure, last-minute changes to manage, and countless moving pieces most people never see.
And through it all, our coaches show up.
They coach their hearts out, celebrate the wins, help competitors work through tough losses, and offer encouragement, guidance, and a familiar voice when everything feels overwhelming.
Sometimes, they also remind us that Jiu-Jitsu is so much bigger than our own team.
A special shout out- Stevie stepped in to coach a competitor from out of town who didn’t have anyone in his corner.
This wasn’t one of our students or someone wearing our patch. He was simply another competitor who had traveled to compete and found himself without a coach.
And Stevie stepped up.
Because it shouldn’t matter what gym you come from, what patch you wear, or whether you’re competing against us or alongside us. Everyone deserves encouragement and support. Sometimes, knowing someone is in your corner makes all the difference.
That moment is the kind of sportsmanship and character we want our students to see.
We talk a lot about building better humans at Strategic BJJ, but those words mean very little if we aren’t living them ourselves.
Our coaches teach more than techniques, submissions, and how to win matches. They teach humility, compassion, perseverance, respect, and what it means to show up for another person.
And they teach those things by example.
There are no medals for coaching all day, trophies for keeping everyone organized, or podiums for the hours spent preparing and supporting our team. But those things matter. They matter more than most people will ever realize.
To our coaches, thank you for the time, energy, and genuine love you give our students. Thank you for being there for the victories, heartbreaks, first-time competitors, and athletes who simply need someone to believe in them.
Thank you for reminding us that the measure of a great gym isn’t just how many medals its athletes bring home.
It’s the kind of people who walk through its doors, the way they treat others, and the example they set when nobody is keeping score.
We are incredibly proud of our competitors and the sportsmanship they displayed yesterday. And we’re just as proud of the coaches who help shape that character every day.
We aren’t just building better grapplers. We’re building better humans. And that starts with the people leading the way. 💙🖤
