If your child is interested in joining the Altha FFA Chapters, please plan to attend the parent meeting this Wednesday, August 19th from 4:30-5:30. We will share information about opportunities students will have for this school year. The below was copied from another FFA chapter, and sums up perfectly all of the benefits FFA provides its members:
If you’re a parent with a kid in middle or high school, here’s a little nudge from someone who has seen the impact firsthand.
There are very few programs left that truly prepare kids for real life. FFA is one of them.
FFA isn’t just about agriculture. It’s about leadership, responsibility, confidence, and learning how to work through challenges. Kids learn how to speak in public, manage projects, compete, lead teams, care for animals, understand business, and represent themselves with pride.
They learn how to win with humility and lose with grace.
They learn how to shake hands, look people in the eye, and carry themselves with confidence in rooms full of adults.
Through FFA, students get opportunities many people never experience:
• Livestock projects
• Leadership conferences
• Public speaking competitions
• Judging teams
• Agricultural mechanics
• Scholarships and career pathways
• Travel and national competitions
• Real responsibility for something that depends on them
And maybe most importantly… they learn that hard work actually matters.
Kids who were once shy stand up and deliver speeches in front of rooms of people.
You’ll see them learn time management, grit, and discipline.
You’ll see them discover what they’re capable of.
And the friendships they build in FFA often last a lifetime.
So if your kid’s school has an FFA program, encourage them to try it. Even if they’ve never been around agriculture. Even if they’re unsure. Even if it feels outside their comfort zone.
Sometimes the programs that challenge them the most end up shaping them the most.
The future needs young people who know how to lead, work hard, and take responsibility. There’s no other organization that provides more opportunities to prepare students for their future.
FFA is one of the best places for them to start. 🌾💙
