🔹98th Illinois FFA State Convention🔹

Today we wrapped up our time in Springfield. Jillian Tappendorf and Alyson Alwardt served as our chapter delegates and helped to elect our new state officer team.

Finally, we wrapped up the day celebrating Olliver Shoaf! Olliver walked the stage to receive his recognition as the STATE WINNER in the Dairy Cattle Judging Non-Reasons CDE. We are so proud of Olliver. Just now finishing his freshmen year, he has lots of success in his future!

🔹98th Illinois FFA State Convention🔹

We’ve had a great couple of days in Springfield for the Illinois FFA State Convention. So far we’ve attended sessions, listened to inspiring speeches, visited the career fair, and squeezed in some fun too!

Today we celebrated Jillian Tappendorf and Brock Wendling for receiving their State FFA Degree! This is the highest state level award an FFA member can receive, and culminates several years of hard work, FFA participation, and community service. Congratulations Jillian and Brock!

Last Call! The last chance to shop the FFA Greenhouse for 2026 will be this Thursday and Friday!

The greenhouse will be open from 9am-3pm this Thursday 5/7 and Friday 5/8. Text the posted phone number for assistance and a student will be out there promptly.

The greenhouse is located behind the high school, between the baseball diamond and bus garage.

FFA members, parents, and supporters are invited to the annual Altamont FFA Banquet! Our chapter banquet will be Sunday, May 3rd starting at 5:30pm.

We will recognize and celebrate the success of our members this past school year and recognize key supporters that make our program shine!

Formal invitations has been sent home with all Altamont FFA members.

Last night we attended the Section 20 Banquet and Elections.

🔹Jillian Tappendorf was elected to serve as the 2026-2027 Section 20 Secretary!

🔹Our CDE and Public Speaking teams were recognized for their achievements on the section and state level!

🔹Our state degree recipients and senior members were honored!

Join us this Saturday, May 2nd for the last weekend of our FFA Greenhouse sale!

We will be open 9am-12pm. We have plenty of petunias, dahlias, marigolds, and more! We even have a few great hanging baskets left!

The greenhouse is located behind the high school, between the bus garage and baseball diamond.

On April 24th, five of our members traveled to Bloomington for the State FFA Livestock Judging contest. Students evaluate classes of beef cattle, pigs, sheep, and meat goats.

🏅Our team placed 10th in state, out of 115 teams!

🏅Grant Suckow placed 13th individually, out of 525 students!

Congratulations to our Livestock team!

🌺2026 FFA Greenhouse Sale🌺

The Altamont FFA Greenhouse will be open this Saturday, April 25th from 9am-12pm! We will also be open May 2nd 9am-12pm.

We have a variety of annual bedding plants and a small selection of hanging baskets available! All proceeds are reinvested into the greenhouse and horticulture classes.

The greenhouse is located behind the high school, near the bus garage and baseball diamond.

More open dates might be announced at a future date based on inventory.
