Gratitude goes beyond social etiquette here. Of course, we include learning to say "thank you", but over time we cultivate appreciation as a trait. Writing thank you notes to generous neighbors... thinking about what makes us happy as we made our Thankful Pumpkins... alumni energetically visiting the old classroom after Community Dinner,...we are engulfed in a state of thankfulness. And joy. And abundance. I'm so thankful for our One Love community. ❀️

Here are some things students are thankful for::

With family: the beach, camping, pontoon boats, hiking to waterfalls, apple picking, biking, cousins, just being with family, dogs, kitties, going to bed early, the ocean, football, eating out , going to the market

At school: marble mazes, reading books, water tables, the construction room, Story Time, going to the park, sand table, painting at the easel, playing with friends, play dough, Superspacers

Animals: alligators, horses, goats, dinosaurs, giraffes, cows, elephants, whales, dogs, kitties,, pets, sharks, pandas, axolotls

Food: Poppy's hamburgers, pancakes, raisin toast, granola bars, salad, shrimp, pizza, apples and pears, grapes, watermelon, pasta, oranges, donuts

(If you've read this far, just know you are someone I am thankful for, too!)

Happy Thanksgiving!

When we put out activities, we never are exactly sure where the kids will take them. We are usually blown away with their ingenuity. Today, a boy explored combining shapes to make other shapes at a tangram activity and learned shape names: parallelograms, hexagons, triangles, trapezoids, diamonds...all under the attentive eye of a younger classmate who was then inspired to also work at the table. Freedom for self-directed learning is a keystone of our program and I wouldn't want it any other way

We had our first Story Time of the year with Ms. Meg from Altamont Free Library this morning. As always, it was an active, literacy-filled good time. Thanks, Meg!

First Community Dinner of the school year was tonight. I think it is safe to say a good time was had by all! Wonderful to see former/current families chatting and widening our One Love circle.
