A morning spent with our Poppy Preschool students and teachers at our new campus at the Girl Scouts’ Mariposa Program Center is a beautiful reminder of what childhood should feel like. Located just a block away from our Mendocino St. campus in Altadena, we are so grateful to have this natural setting where Waldorf early childhood education truly thrives.

From gathering in morning circle with movement, verses, and song to pulling on gardening gloves, tending plant beds, and pushing wheelbarrows down shaded pathways beneath the trees, our Poppies learn through active doing, gentle daily rhythms, and a genuine connection to nature. Watching the Poppies grow and thrive in this environment is an absolute gift.

Cuteness overload in the Sweet Peas! Let’s unpack this amazing PWS connection story:

1. Ms. Adrienne (left), our Sweet Pea Teacher, has been at PWS for over 20 years leading our Parent-Child program.
2. She’s welcoming one of her newest students, from the Class of 2044!
3. The baby’s grandmother, Mrs. Manzke (middle), is our current Grade 7 Class Teacher, currently leading her third class through the grades.
4. Mrs. Manzke’s daughter (right) is a proud PWS alum, and now a PWS parent!
5. AND to complete the circle, Ms. Adrienne’s son, also a PWS alum, was in the very first class Mrs. Manzke led from grades 1-8!

We love seeing our community’s roots run this deep. Welcome to the PWS family!

Welcome to the grades, Class of 2038! 🌹

It was a beautiful morning as the PWS community gathered to welcome our newest students to the grades. High school seniors greeted and handed roses to each incoming student—a gesture that marks the start of their 12-year journey. In June, this tradition comes full circle when our first graders present roses back to the seniors as they graduate and step out into the world.

This year’s Rose Ceremony was especially moving—reuniting our entire school community on the McComb Campus in Altadena for the first time since January 2025. The morning brought a true sense of wholeness as students discovered their new classrooms, reconnected with friends, and began the year together.

It takes a village—and some dedicated alumni! Huge thanks to our high school alumni for rolling up their sleeves with HS Art Director Mr. Getnick to get the art studio prepped and ready. We can’t wait for our students to fill this space again when they return to Altadena next month!

PWS teachers are spending their summer break putting in the work! From Early Childhood to the Grades, several of our teachers are continuing their journey this summer and deepening their practice at the Waldorf Institute of Southern California (WISC), hosted by Highland Hall Waldorf School. Their dedication to lifelong learning is part of what makes our school community so special. We can’t wait to see what you bring back to the classroom this fall!

What a beautiful day of celebration, learning, and community! ❤️🖤💚

Our Juneteenth celebration brought our community back home to our Altadena campus to honor Black freedom, resilience, culture, and joy.

From double dutch and hair braiding to cake walks, live music, dancing, delicious food, and plenty of laughter, the day was filled with connection, celebration, and unforgettable memories. It was inspiring to see families, friends, and neighbors come together to celebrate the history, traditions, and enduring spirit of Juneteenth.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible volunteers, supporters, and community members who made this day possible. Whether you baked, served, organized, led activities, or simply joined us in celebration, your generosity and enthusiasm made all the difference.

Thank you to everyone who came out—we’re so grateful to celebrate with such a vibrant and caring community. ❤️

Congratulations to the PWS Class of 2026! 🎓 We were filled with joy as our community gathered at our McComb Mendocino Campus in Altadena to celebrate the final milestone of the school year: High School Graduation.

It was a day defined by deep reflection and celebration, featuring beautiful music from our High School Chorus and an inspiring commencement address from High School Art Director Brian Getnick, who challenged our graduates to embrace resilience and celebrate their journey. We also took a moment to honor the extraordinary service of those who have supported our community, including a special tribute to Brandon Jay and the non-profit Altadena Musicians for their tireless work replacing music instruments and equipment for families affected by the fires, including several PWS families and employees.

To our graduates: thank you for the heart, creativity, and spirit you brought to our school. We can’t wait to see all that you accomplish next!

Special thanks to our parents, students, employees and photographer Javi P. for such an unforgettable day.
