Saint Mark's School

Saint Mark's School Saint Mark’s School is a private Episcopal school from Preschool through Grade 6 in Altadena, Cali

Saint Mark’s School is an independent, Episcopal school for students in preschool through grade 6. Specializing in early childhood and elementary education, Saint Mark’s intentionally pairs strong academics with social-emotional learning to help students thrive and grow into intelligent, well-rounded leaders. We believe that the social and emotional development of our students is equally important

to their intellectual growth. This holistic approach to early childhood and elementary education allows a supportive space for preschoolers through sixth graders to engage in their learning. By intentionally educating the whole child, we focus and guide students toward academic excellence, encouraging an intellectual curiosity that will create lifelong learners. Our diverse community—from our faculty and staff to our highly engaged parents—models the confidence, resilience, and compassion that we strive to instill in our students who go on to become thoughtful leaders in their community and their world. Located in Altadena on a tree-filled campus, Saint Mark’s enrolls children as young as two years, nine months and offers extended care from 7 am to 6 pm for all students.

Welcome back, Lions! The best part about being back on campus is seeing our entire community come together again! 💙💛🦁

We’re so excited for a new school year. With our community back together and Rooted in Purpose, we’re ready to make this a great year!

Each year, Head of School Jenn Tolbert selects a theme to inspire our community and set the tone for the year ahead. This year’s theme, Rooted in Purpose, reminds us why this work matters. 🌳

Our mission, values, and love for this community keep us grounded, while our students inspire us to keep growing. They are the hearts behind our purpose and the reason for all that we do. 💛💙

Last Friday’s graduation ceremony was a beautiful celebration of our graduates and all they have accomplished during their time at Saint Mark’s. 🎓 From our beloved rose tribute to families to the moving sixth-grade song performance, these cherished traditions are what make this day so special.

We were also honored to welcome back Barrett Jackson ’20 as our graduation speaker. As he prepares to head off to college, Barrett shared encouraging words about his own time at Saint Mark’s, reflecting on the experiences and lessons that shaped him. He also offered advice to our graduates, helping prepare them for the exciting opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

Thank you to Stephanie Bond and the mighty volunteer crew who helped make the ceremony and reception such a memorable occasion.

Congratulations, Class of 2026! We are so proud of all you have accomplished and can’t wait to see where your journey takes you next. Once a Lion, always a Lion. 🦁💙💛

This morning was all about celebrating the heart of our school: our incredible parents! We loved starting the day with our Parent Appreciation Coffee and taking a moment to recognize those who help make our community so special.

Thank you for the countless ways you show up for Saint Mark’s with your time, generosity, encouragement, and heart. We truly couldn’t do it without you! 💛💙

✨A TREEAMS teams makes a dream team! 🌱 Students from Saint Mark’s and EF Academy came together to launch the first TREEAMS nursery, planting 30 native trees, including coast live oaks and sycamores. These trees will be nurtured over the next one to two years before being planted throughout Altadena and shared with community members at no cost, helping restore what was lost in the Eaton Fire and bring new life back to the neighborhoods we love.

With the support of generous partners who provided the trees and mulch, and inspired by Dr. Jane Goodall’s vision of youth-led environmental stewardship, our students stepped into something bigger than themselves, truly living out our values of Be the Good and Learn for Life through meaningful action and hands-on impact. It was powerful to witness what truly feels like history in the making. 🌱

We started the week on a roll—a lobster roll, that is! 🦞 We are extremely grateful to the Lomac family, one of our very own Saint Mark’s families, for bringing the Cousins Maine Lobster to campus and treating every student, faculty and staff member to a delicious lunch! It’s officially the coolest lunch we’ve had all year. A few of our students got a “behind-the-scenes” tour inside the truck, which was definitely the butter on top of an already awesome day.
