Calling all SRSU students! 📣

Taking place October 9–11, Chinati Weekend brings visitors to Marfa for three days of exhibitions, artist talks, open studios, live music, performances, and special events.

This is a great opportunity for SRSU students to get involved, meet new people, and be part of one of Far West Texas’ premier arts and cultural events.

🌟 Noyce Alumni Spotlight! 🌟

We love seeing our Sul Ross State Noyce alumni making a difference in classrooms and communities across rural Texas! Today, we’re celebrating Melody Martinez, a former Noyce Scholar and Sul Ross State University mathematics graduate who is now teaching at Lipan ISD. Here is a recent quote from Ms. Martinez.

“I’m Melody Martinez and am starting my teaching and coaching journey at Lipan High School. I have the honor of teaching Pre Calculus, Algebra 2 and Dual Credit mathematics. I am also coaching volleyball, basketball and track. I am super excited to start my career in a small town with a great community. Everybody has been so welcoming and helpful for my 1st year of teaching and coaching. I can’t wait to see the growth of my students as the year continues! Go Indians!” - Melody Martinez, August 2026.

Melody’s journey represents exactly what our Noyce program is about, preparing talented STEM educators who inspire students, strengthen rural and border communities, and help the next generation see themselves as scientists, mathematicians, problem-solvers, and innovators. 🔬🧪➗🚀 We are incredibly proud of our Noyce alumni and grateful to have been a small part of the journey from Noyce Scholar to STEM educator! ❤️ Once a Noyce Scholar Lobo, always part of the Noyce family!
