The Alpine View Lodge has been providing quality care to special elders in San Diego County for over 40 years. Our staff sets the standard for care facilities and exceeds state training mandates. Many have been here 15+ years and give our residents the loving respectful care they deserve. We offer assistance with Activities of Daily Living (dressing, bathing etc), dementia care programs and Hospice. Respite and Day Care are also available. We actively participate in fund raising activities (lodge events and Walk to End Alzheimer's) to fund research to find a cure for this debilitating disease that robs us of our loved ones. There’s a surprising new clue. Could aspirin play a role in dementia prevention?

A new analysis of more than 13,500 older adults found that daily low-dose aspirin was associated with a 70% lower relative risk of dementia among people with a particular genetic profile related to platelet count. However, serious bleeding was also more common in this group.

Researchers say the finding needs to be confirmed in further studies. This does not mean people should start taking aspirin to prevent dementia. Always talk with a doctor before starting daily aspirin.

Saying “no” doesn’t make you a bad caregiver.

Caregiving can make you feel like you should always be available, always say yes, and always put someone else first.

But you matter, too.

Healthy boundaries can help protect your energy, relationships, and ability to keep showing up with patience and compassion.

Try starting small:
🤍 Set one clear boundary.
🤍 Don’t feel pressured to over-explain.
🤍 Offer an alternative when you can.
🤍 Remember that rest is part of caregiving, too.

A study shows that more than 10,800 adults over 70 found that those who listened to music most days had a 39% lower likelihood of developing dementia compared with those who listened less often.
