From 1971 to 1977, the “Uniform Holiday Bill” went into effect, which moved Veterans Day from a set date of every 11th of November to being celebrated on a Monday, which allows federal employees to have a three-day weekend. In 1978, Veterans Day was once again moved back to November 11th by President George R. Ford because of the confusion the previous law had brought.

Of the 5,826 US veterans involved in a 2017 study, 12.9% were diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This number was quite appalling given that only 6.8% of the US population is expected to experience PTSD at any point in their lives.

Regardless of the struggles you face, or what gets you down, rocks you or makes you second guess yourself, user your mindset to be the champion and a survivor. Do not leave any space for thoughts that will question your ability to accomplish your goals.

One of Todd Ernst's biggest successes started by embarking on a journey to fight for the benefits of his friend’s family. He began asking questions, and with every question he asked, he discovered there were more questions left unanswered.
After 5 years of challenging thesystem and many visits to the Pentagon, he had a win and the legislation to fix the disparity in survivor benefits was changed.

He was promoted 6 times, and demoted back to private 7 times; spent 41 days in the brig with the first 21 only living off bread and water; survived a disastrous Arctic exercise and saved the lives of five men; chosen to the Honor Guard to protect President Harry Truman; honorably discharged; studied acting; then, became a Hollywood superstar.

For people like our veterans who have sacrificed so much and devoted themselves valiantly to serve others, it always feels so rewarding to see them get back on their feet.
Systaining injuries from several tours in Iraq and being in the hospital for 2 years did not stop army captain Josh Peyton from pushing forward. Rather, these roadblocks paved the way for him to build Veterans Golfers Association (VGA) - a nonprofit organization composed of 10,000 members that is dedicated to enriching the lives of those who served, and their families, through the fun, camaraderie, and competition of golf.

Census Bureau’s Nonemployer Statistics by Demographics (NES-D) data find that approximately 6% of receipts from all nonemployer firms are from veteran-owned firms.

Hustle grit is not enough. At some point, you have to scale. You have to have the long tail, not the short tail. When competition steps up and margins shrink, if you can’t pivot, the business will die. It's about learning the process of alignment - aligning yourself to the new future ahead of you.
