In this week's Why We Belong - Voices Of Our Congregation, Steve and Beth Shapiro share what belonging to a synagogue community has meant to them—and why Gesher L’Torah has become such an important part of their lives.

Beth, Gesher L’Torah’s first-ever Volunteer of the Year recipient, has spent years giving back to the community she loves. Her story is a beautiful reminder that a synagogue isn't just a place you go. It's a community you help build, relationships you nurture, and a home you can return to through every stage of life.

Watch Steve and Beth share why belonging matters.

Elul Learning Series: Ani L'Dodi V'Dodi Li
"I am my beloved's and my beloved is mine." (Song of Songs 6:3)

📅Sunday, August 16th and Sunday, August 30th at 7PM

The month of Elul invites us to pause before the High Holidays and ask some of life's most important questions:

What am I seeking this year?
What needs to change?
How do I reconnect—with the people I love, with my values, and with the deepest parts of myself?

In this two-part study series, we'll be inspired by the "beloved" verse that spells out Elul in Hebrew. Together, we'll discover how its two halves offer two distinct pathways into the High Holiday season: the courage to take the first step, and the possibility of finding ourselves more deeply connected than we imagined.

Whether you're looking for fresh insight, meaningful conversation, or simply a thoughtful way to prepare for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, join us as we explore timeless Jewish texts and enduring questions that speak to our lives today.

What makes Gesher L'Torah feel like home?

"We now have long term friends; in the beginning it was just friends. I like the idea of continuity of friendship and gathering." -Steve Kramer

Community isn't just about gathering together—it's about building relationships that last. From celebrating simchas to supporting one another through life's challenges, the connections made at Gesher become part of your life story.

We're grateful to our congregants for sharing what makes this community so meaningful. Stay tuned for more Voices of our Congregation. ❤️

For Those Going Back to School Today
A Prayer For the Doorstep
Dressed for school and ready with a backpack
In the same place as last year
Or the year you started going to this school
So the pictures can be posted
Side by side
No year is like any other though
All new things are unknown even when they are familiar
May all that is unknown be an opportunity to learn
And all that is familiar be a reminder to enjoy
May this year be sweet, healthy and full of blessings!!!
