And we are Go For Launch! We are thrilled to be here in Alpena, Michigan with some stellar students who are joining us at our first GFL! event of 2021! The day began with our student introductions and of course some fun activities! The students kicked off this #TeamworkTuesday with a space-tastic team building exercise that allowed them to work on communication skills. The teams were split in two and were asked to play the roles of spacewalkers and CAPCOM’s. The CAPCOM’s had to explain a secret image to the spacewalkers to draw! Astronaut Don Thomas led an incredible discussion about his experience living in space! He talked about the challenges and successes during his application process to become an astronaut. Astronaut Don also shared some interesting facts about living in space, such as how astronauts eat, sleep and work! After a break for lunch, the student teams were finally able to get together and brainstorm their experiment ideas. A mission patch design session followed.
