Mission: It is the overall mission of the Alfred-Almond Central School District to prepare each individual to live successfully in a world of rapid change, and to grow from dependence to independence. Development of self-discipline and readiness to accept responsibility for one's actions are essential characteristics of that growth. Our school system will provide an equal opportunity for each Alfred-Almond student to be challenged to the fullest extent of his or her ability and to assure that all students will acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to enable them to become productive members of society. This mission is best accomplished when school personnel maintain high expectations for all students, create a positive school climate, ensure a safe and orderly school environment, monitor student progress on a frequent basis, and promote effective home-school communication. The school system shares the responsibility for accomplishing this mission with the family and community.

[01/24/20]   The Modified Swim team did an excellent job last night in their double dual last meet of the season with Genesee Valley and Wellsville. Everyone swam their hardest and came out with some great times. Great job Quinn, Owen, Joey, Andrew, Gwen, Dena, Patrick, Erin, and Domenic! I look forward to what everyone will do at the Modified Counties Meet in Campbell-Savona on Tuesday!

[01/22/20]   The GVBB team traveled to Whitesville last night in a tough nonleague matchup. Unfortunately, the Eagles came out a bit slow and it was too much to overcome. They didn't quite have the energy and fight they usually have but they will recover and take their frustrations out on Campbell-Savona when they visit them next Friday. Logan and Maggie each had 7 points, Avery added 5, and Luci, Lauren, Andrea, and Kayla rounded out the scoring with 2 points apiece.

[01/22/20]   Last night the Eagles Varsity Swim Team suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of the Campbell Savona Panthers. After previously tying the Panthers, the team did their best to send its Seniors off with one last home win, but fell just short, losing 52-50. The Eagles record now stands at 9-1-1. The team will lick their wounds and come back stronger for the next two battles with Campbell Savona, which will be January 29th at the County Championships and later in February at sectionals. The team was lead by Noah, Liam, Gavin, Lucas and Paul. Alfred Almond will close out their regular season Thursday in Wellsville with a double dual meet against Wellsville and Genesee Valley.

[01/22/20]   The Varsity Wrestling team did not disappoint on Senior night, defeating the visiting Avoca Tigers 75-6. All five seniors stepped onto and off of their home mat for the last time victorious. Caleb, Morgan and Dan won by fall. Colton won by decision and Laertes was too HUGE for his opponent and thus received a forfeit. Winning his first ever varsity match was Alex at 220. He was followed by Zack with an exciting overtime pinfall of his opponent at 138. Receiving forfeit wins on the night were; Blake, Eric, Shane, Ben and Nick. The team will head to powerhouse Bolivar Richburg on Thursday to finish out the week. Congratulations to all our seniors on such a special night.

The 2020 A-A Spelling Bee was held on January 16, 2020, in the HS auditorium. Twenty students in grades 1-8 participated in the local event. Jennifer won the school championship with Leon placing second. Both students are eligible to participate in the Regional Spelling Bee at Corning-Painted Post Middle School on March 28, 2020. Congratulations to all of our spellers! Good luck at the regional event!

[01/21/20]   The GVBB team lost a tough one Friday night in Hammondsport. The girls had a big first quarter as they dropped 13 points. Unfortunately, two key injuries in the first half were just too much for the Eagles to overcome. Zoe and Logan each scored 7 points, Avery added 6, Maggie chipped in 4, Luci had 3, and Lauren rounded out the scoring with 2 points. Without much of a break, the Eagles head to Whitesville tonight for a tough nonleague matchup. Go Eagles!

[01/21/20]   This past Friday, the Varsity wrestling team competed in Williamson Pennsylvania at the Battle of the Border duals. The team finished the evening with a record of 3-2. [01/16/20]   The GVBB team hosted Class C powerhouse, undefeated, and state-ranked Canisteo-Greenwood last night. Even though the first quarter was all C-G, the Eagles played with toughness and confidence. Going into halftime, the Eagles were only down 7 points. The third quarter was a bit rough, but once again, the Eagles didn't quit, even though they were down 17 going into the 4th. Unbelievably, the Eagles were able to chip away at that lead as they outscored Canisteo-Greenwood 14-6 in the fourth. They kept that high powered offense, which was averaging 65 points per game, to a total of 48 points. When the final buzzer went off, the final score was 48-39. The girls played with toughness and determination, which can't be taught. Although it was a loss, the girls should be VERY proud of their efforts. Hopefully, they can keep that momentum going tomorrow night as they travel to Hammondsport. Go Eagles!

[01/15/20]   The Varsity Wrestling team traveled to Canisteo-Greenwood HS on Tuesday evening, The host Redskins came out the victors, with a 50-30 win. Ben Lloyd picked up a forfeit at 132#. Zack a pinfall at 138#, Caleb a 5-0 decision at 145#, Colton a pinfall at 152# and Laertes with a pinfall at 160#. [01/15/20]   Yesterday, the Eagles defeated the Rebels of Cuba Rushford, swimming to their 9th win of the season, and pushing their overall record to 9-0-1.

Leading the way for the Eagles was Isaac with 17 points, Jonas had 14, Kevin added 13 and Blake chipped in with six. The next game is home Friday at 6 p.m. versus Hammondsport.

[01/14/20]   The GVBB team traveled last night to take on the Lady Tigers of Scio. After giving up 55 points Friday night, the girls decided that that was not going to happen again. They switched up their defense throughout the game and put a lot of pressure out front on the guards. It started out pretty slow offensively as the Eagles took a 20-6 lead into halftime. After halftime, it was all Eagles as they outscored their opponents 27-1 over the last two quarters. Every girl played, contributed, and scored. It was a much-needed win as they went home with a 47-7 victory. Logan led the team with 10 points, Zoe added 7, Avery put in 6, Kayla chipped in 5, Mirra and Lauren each scored 4, Luci, Maggie, and Andrea each scored 3, and Ryleigh rounded out the scoring with 2 points. The Eagles will host Canisteo-Greenwood tomorrow night. Go Eagles!

[01/14/20]   Last night the Modified Wrestling team hosted Avoca, Arkport-Canaseraga, Canisteo, Jasper Troupsburg, and Wellsville. After 2 rounds of wrestling, the team came away with 3 wins and 2 losses. Cole went 1-1 on the evening with a close 4-3 loss in his first match and then came back with redemption by then pinning his second opponent in the 2nd period. Aiden went 2-1 for the night winning his first match by pin in the 2nd period, losing his second match by decision, and winning his third by pin in the first period. A huge thank you and shout out goes out to the Varsity Wrestling team and Coach Cook for getting the mats ready, working tables, announcing, and supporting the modified members. The 200 free relay team of Gavin, Liam, Lucas and Julian captured a 1st place finish in what was the most exciting relay of the day, posting their best time of the season and holding off York by .29 seconds. Kylie made a free throw with 56 seconds left to take the first lead of the game. Addison was able to tie it, but Aurora’s offensive rebound and put back with 5 seconds to go sealed the game!
