After a long summer break, we are continuing with our senior spotlights from the Spring Class of 2021. Up next we have the wonderful Carly ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›
-
โ€œCarly pledged Kappa Iota of winter 2018. Carly is apart of the pledge class Vodka Cranbabies. During her time in KI she has served as treasurer, sisterhood chair, house manager, philanthropy chair and ending her senior year as pledgemilf. Carly joined KI because she truly felt at home. She canโ€™t thank her sisters enough for their constant support. Carlyโ€™s favorite memory in KI was getting her mother (Shaylee Seymour) and her daughter (Gracie Lloyd) her grandbb (Baileigh Connolly) and her great grandbb (Lauryn Bishop). Carly graduating with a major in theatre in hopes to one day move to California where she can spend the rest of her life directing and living with her best friend and daughter, Gracie. Carlyโ€™s advise to anyone that wants to take it: be kind to yourself. Carly would like to thank her entire family line (WOODCHUCK MA*****NA BESTDAMNFAM) for always being there for her.โ€
-
And now, a message from someone who loves you:
โ€œhi RAT !!! iโ€™m so fu***ng proud of you! iโ€™m so lucky to have you as my ki mom, sister, and my BEST FRIEND. i love you and i canโ€™t wait to make it big with you some day. mwah. - Gracie ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›โ€

Up next for our senior spotlights is the amazing David๐Ÿ’œ

โ€œDavid (they/them) joined Kappa Iota in the Winter of 2019 as a member of The Lavendar Mafia pledge class! ๐Ÿ’ During their time as an active member, they served as Recruitment Chair in Fall of 2019 and Social Chair Winter of 2020. Davie joined KI โ€œbc every time I walked in the door I was greeted with the warmest welcome on Almaโ€™s campus. Our sororityโ€™s long history of advocacy & activism drew me in, bc I see it was as place where conversation could truly become collective action. Itโ€™s been an absolute pleasure to have expanded our capacity for intersectional feminism & activism during my time with KI.โ€ ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› Davidโ€™s favorite KI memory would have to be Walk outโ€™s night of WI 19. That night they showed up in support of the chapter welcoming their new class, only to be invited to join us as a sibling or brother. โ€œBecause the leadership knew that that time I was questioning my gender identity, they made it clear I could join their chapter however I was most comfortable. From then on I have been a Non-binary sibling of Kappa Iota, fully recognized and fully loved. Iโ€™ll cherish that memory for years to come.โ€ โค๏ธ David graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Communication ๐Ÿ—ฃ After college, they plan on pursuing work in Community Health & development, & expanding their reach in the field of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
Davidโ€™s advice to future members and actives would be โ€œif youโ€™re ever scared to try something new, tell your chapter, bc youโ€™re bound to find at least one person to do it with you and make lasting friendships. Keep in touch! If anyone is interested in similar career fields feel free to reach out anytime. I love you all & will miss you dearly.โ€

Now, a message from someone who loves you:
โ€œDavie is an absolute angel on earth & i am so blessed that our paths crossed so early in our college careers. They have provided countless learning opportunities & endless love & support for me & those around them & i could not be standing where i am today without their presence in my life! - Tash๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›โ€

Davie we love you SO much & are so proud of everything you have accomplished โค๏ธ

Up next for our senior spotlights is the amazing Chapin!
โ€œChapin uses she/they pronouns and pledged KI in the Winter of 2017 as a member of the Vodka Cranbabies Pledge Class!๐Ÿท During her 3.5 years as an active KI, she served as Co-Social Chair, Vice President, President, Bro-Mo and Pledge M**f (they were also a housie for 2.5 years๐Ÿฅบ). Chapin joined KI because โ€œI knew it was a place where I would be the most accepted I ever was and would have the most friends I would ever have. Everyone just /got/ me. I didnโ€™t have to explain myself to anyone. There was never an easier decision made.โ€ ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› Chapin graduated in the spring of 2021 with a bachelorโ€™s degree in Psychology. She is currently looking for work in the field ๐Ÿง  Any advice to future KIs? Chapin says, โ€œDonโ€™t take your time as a KI for granted. Participate, show up to functions, enjoy it. You will learn things that will help you in your daily life after college. Serving on EC and devoting time and energy to KI was one of the best things I did in undergrad. Now I can look back and know I got everything out of KI (and more) that I was promised when I first pledged.๐Ÿ’œโ€
-
And now, a message from someone who loves you:
โ€œChapin!!!! I am so so proud of you and everything you do, ever since I first met you I felt like you were such an amazing and positive and strong person and I'm so so glad I got to see part of your journey and I'm excited to see what amazing things you do in the future! I know you are destined for great things and you are so full of good vibes and I am so so honored to be your KI daughter, you have been such a wonderful influence in my life and I'm so excited to get to hang out with the coolest alumni (you ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›), keep the good energy and just know that you can get through any storm and come out the other side even brighter! I love you so so much and I can never thank you enough for all of the amazing things you have done and continue to do for all of us ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› You've got this and will do amazingly on this next chapter, love your KI daughter โคโคโค๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’•โ€

We are so proud of you Chapin and wish you an abundance of luck & success in your future๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ

Up next for our senior spotlights is the wonderful DJ!!
โ€œhi iโ€™m DJ โœจ! My pronouns are they/she and I pledged Kappa Iota Winter of 2018. My pledge class name is the Vodka Cranbabiez! During my time at KI I have been recruitment chair, secretary, sibling hood chair, and house manager. I also lived in the house for 3 years ๐Ÿคช. I joined KI because you could feel the love in the atmosphere whenever KIโ€™s are together and I thought that it was beautiful! There was no other place Iโ€™d rather be ๐Ÿฅบ! I will be graduating in the fall with BA in Womenโ€™s and Gender Studies. Advice I would give to a future KI is to be unapologetically yourself. Do what makes you feel good. You are powerful and a force to be reckoned with. Donโ€™t let anyone tell you different! You all are going to do amazing things! Iโ€™m so proud of you! Now let me hear you say go KI! ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿณ๏ธโ€๐ŸŒˆโ€
-
And now, a message from someone who loves you:
โ€œDJ, Words can not express how proud of you I am!!!! Iโ€™ve watched you go through some terrible times, but you have been able to overcome them all. Iโ€™m sooooooooo glad I met you, and just like you got the best child, I got THE BEST FREAKING PARENTโค๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜œ

Up next for our senior spotlights we have Tash! โ€œIโ€™m Tash, I use they/her pronouns and I pledged KI Fall of sophomore year so i think 2018??? My pledge class was Chaotic Good ๐Ÿ˜ˆ During my time in KI, I've been warm and fuzzies and house manager !! I was feeling very lost after a turbulent freshman year and a lot of my friends (who were KIs believe it or not) wanted me to go through pledging. I thought why the hell shouldn't I just try it and ended up finding one of my strongest support networks. I joined because I saw myself in a lot of people, whether it was similar struggles or qualities I aspired to develop. I became my best self because of the challenges and opportunities presented by this organization which is everything I ever hoped to gain by joining. My favorite KI memory, oh GOD, probably the pledging event where we made a twitter thread keeping up with the stories but no context!! I would elaborate but pledging is >top secret< I am graduating with a BS in Neuroscience and Psychology w honors in neuro!! Current plans are doing a whole lot of NOTHING because i need a BREAK!! Also probably therapy because Alma was a nightmare LMAO. My best college advice is to not stress about grades too much. My very first year I got a D and a BC and still graduated Magna Cum Laude so TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF WHEN YOU NEED IT! The trick to that is finding the fine line between self care and self destruction but baby I walked it HARD for four years and we made it so YOU CAN TOOOO
Final remarks would be to thank everyone who helped me along the way and supported me no matter how hard my bad days were. I gained the strongest friendships I've ever known here and I will cherish my memories and these bonds forever. I love y'all. KI till I die ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›โ€
-
And now, a message from someone who loves you
โ€œWatching the absolute love of my life achieve every goal they set out to achieve was one of the highlights of my time at Alma. Not only was I lucky enough to have you as a best friend, I also got to have the best damn kiddo in the world. Keep up the chaos ๐Ÿ˜˜ Love Momma Mol ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›โ€
-
Tash, we love you so much & wish you so much luck on your future๐Ÿ’œ

Up next for our senior spotlights is our wonderful Anna! ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›
โ€œIโ€™m Anna (she/her). I pledged in Winter 2020 in the pledge class Zesty Citrushood. I joined because they came into my life when I needed people and everyone in KI is so welcoming and loving. They hold the same views I do and are constantly teaching me new things which helps me grow as a person. I love everyone here so much and Iโ€™m so glad I joined! My favorite KI memories are when I got my mom and when I got my kid!! Theyโ€™re both amazing and Iโ€™m lucky to have them in my family line! Iโ€™m graduating with an art and design major and a business minor. Iโ€™m not great at planning lol but I have a general direction for after I graduate. This summer Iโ€™ll be working at a summer camp Iโ€™ve worked at the last 2 summers but after that I want to work towards becoming a tattoo artist and growing my photography career. I think some advice I would give is to not forget that everyone at KI is there for you and has your back! They all have so much love and support for everyone else there! Count on your sisters!! Iโ€™m going to miss my sisters so much and Iโ€™m truly grateful to have joined!โ€
-
And now, a message from someone who loves you!
โ€œIโ€™m so glad I got to meet you and Iโ€™m so honored to have you as my mom!! I wish we couldโ€™ve had spend more time together but I know weโ€™ll have each other if we need it!!! I wish you the best in your future and hope that you have the best opportunities in life๐Ÿ’– love you so much !!!๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’› -Krystalโ€

Up next for our senior spotlights is Kayla! ๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ˜ โ€œMy name is Kayla. My pronouns are she/her/hers and I pledged KI in Winter of 2018, Vodka Cranbabies! I have served as Risk Manager. I joined KI because I felt most comfortable there and my interests in advocacy, particularly for women and the LGBTQ+ community aligned perfectly with KI. The energy is unmatched! I am graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication (minored in Women's and Gender studies) and I will be attending University of Nebraska Lincoln in the fall for a MA in Communication Studies with a focus on women's and gender studies. Advice I would give to a future/younger KI would be to stand by your values inside and outside of KI. What makes KI so special is each member's ability to not only show their truest selves but also to be proud of our truest selves. Be loud and proud wherever you go!
GO KI!!!!!โ€

And now, a message from someone who loves youโค๏ธ:

"Kayla, you were a fantastic and inspirational mother. I love you and I am going to miss having you on campus. We didn't get to spend much time together, but I hope we will make more memories with you as an alumni.

Up next for our senior spotlights is Abigail! ๐Ÿฅฐ โ€œMy name is Abigail Grout, she/her pronouns. I pledged Winter of 2020 with the Zesty Citrushood pledge class. I served as secretary for a semester. I joined KI for the sisterhood and the great feminist values we hold. Iโ€™m graduating with a chemistry degree and a minor in mathematics. Iโ€™m planning on getting a job in the industry somewhere. My advice for future/younger sisters is to have fun and kick ass!โ€

Itโ€™s time to start the dreaded senior spotlights๐Ÿ˜ญ We have many amazing seniors who are graduating. Starting with Kate! ๐Ÿ˜ Kateโ€™s pronouns are she/her and she pledged Kappa Iota in Winter 2018 as part of the Vodka Cranbabies pledge class. ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿ’ She has served as Sisterhood Chair, Treasurer, and Fall Recruitment Chair, as well as Intersorority Chair and Senior Recruitment Chair on Panhellenic Council. (an involved bitch! ๐Ÿฅต) Kate joined KI because she loved the closeness and steadfastness of the sisters, as well as how they pushed each other to succeed and always aim higher. ๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒŸ There are far too many to choose from, but her favorite memory of KI will always be running home after recruitment, first as a PNM and then again as a Rho Gam. ๐Ÿ โค๏ธ Kate will be graduating with a B.S. in Integrative Physiology and Health Science with a concentration in Pre-Occupational Therapy and a Minor in Writing. ๐Ÿ“œ๐Ÿชถ After college, she will be taking a gap year and working as a rehabilitation technician to save money and apply for grad schools, where she plans to study occupational therapy. ๐Ÿ’ช Kateโ€™s advice to younger and future sisters of KI is to always stay true to yourself and never make yourself smaller for otherโ€™s benefit. Finally, Kate would like to thank everyone who has pushed her to consider new options and ideas, and have opened her eyes to the endless possibilities out there. Although itโ€™s time to leave for greener pastures, she will miss the sisters and sisterhood she found here dearly. ๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿฎ๐Ÿ’ž
-
And now, a message from someone who loves you:
โ€œMy dearest mother,
How I shall miss you when you are gone...I knew from the first time we did the crab dance at the AGD Formal we were going to be pretty cool pals. I am going to miss you and your shenanigans as well as you leaving me your delicious jello-cups. I love you so much, you are going to do amazing s**t in your life, I hope I can cheer you on through all the things life will give and throw at you.
Love, Keeโ€
We love you Kate, best of luck on your future endeavors, you always have a home in KI ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ
