Yesterday, the 8th grade class took a trip up to Eau Claire to visit CVTC for their first college visit of the year. There, they learned about what a technical college is, what majors and courses CVTC offers, as well as specific benefits of technical education. Along with this, the students were able to visit the engineering department where CVTC professors demonstrated specific course competencies related to engineering, such as welding, electronic currents, basic machine engineering, and more. Great job 8th grade!

Yesterday, the Fabrication team, consisting of Trevor Keeler, Jackson Reed, Hunter Schmalzriedt, and Jacoby Dodge, took the car they built to the Lacrosse Speedway. This day was more of a test run for the team to work out the bugs in their cars, as there was no polling at this race. Nice job guys!

This week's high school student of the week is Paisley Blim. Daughter of Bobby and Brian, and older sister of third grader Rhett, Paisley is now a freshman. Their family has two dogs: Chopper and Buck, and two cats: Willow and Nova. In her free time, she reads a wide variety of books, both fiction and nonfiction, and plays volleyball with her friends. She also looks forward to the softball season. Her favorite class currently is band, in which she plays the clarinet. Paisley currently works at Herbal Life in Wabasha as a barista, where she takes orders, makes the tea, and serves customers. In the future, she wants to pursue a career as a CNA, working in a nursing home. Her favorite food and beverage is Alfredo pasta, and Dr. Pepper or cotton candy Alani. Her favorite color is blue, and she likes house cats as well. Congratulations Paisley on this achievement!

This week's elementary student of the week is fourth-grader Avyenna Dodge. Avy is the daughter of Jake and Tabitha Dodge, and she has five older siblings. She has two dogs, 18 chickens, and two goats. Avy's interests include playing softball and rollerblading, and she wants to be a softball coach when she grows up. Her favorite class is music, and she's most looking forward to the Halloween party this year, where she will be a pirate. Avy keeps herself busy playing softball, flag football, basketball, and volleyball. On to her favorites: Avy's favorite food is donuts, color is violet, and animal is a horse. Way to go, Avy; keep reaching for the stars, and keep up the good work!
