What a morning of community service to wrap up National 4-H Week in Wabaunsee County! Corbin did a wonderful job planning and executing today's projects. Thank you to all that helped clean up, cut trees and brush, and spread gravel. Thank you Wabaunsee County Office of Economic Development for leading the revitalization projects throughout the Rest Area!

Our Ag Agent, along with four other agents from across Kansas, spent the week completing instructor training to prepare to teach youth and adult ATV Rider safety courses!
ATV safety is a critical issue throughout Kansas and across the country. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, off-highway vehicle incidents—including ATVs, recreational off-highway vehicles and utility task vehicles—result in more than 800 deaths annually on average and approximately 100,000 emergency department-treated injuries each year. ATVs account for the majority of these fatalities.
These numbers are a powerful reminder that safety training, proper protective equipment, and responsible riding habits matter. Whether ATVs are used for recreation or work on the farm, education can help riders better understand the risks and make safer decisions.
We’re excited to bring this knowledge back to our communities and help equip both youth and adults with the skills and knowledge they need to ride safely!

Over the next six weeks, we're starting a conversation about the future of Wabaunsee County.

Using ideas from 𝟏𝟑 𝐖𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐊𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲, we'll take one topic each week and look at it through a Wabaunsee County lens.

This isn't about pointing fingers or focusing on what our communities are doing wrong. It's about creating a safe place to ask questions, gather information and better understand where we are today.

Some of the challenges we face today were shaped by decisions made generations ago, and the decisions we make today will affect generations we may never meet.
