The Western Pennsylvania Montessori School, Inc., was founded in September 1965 as a non-profit organization and is affiliated with the American Montessori Society.
Maria Montessori is famously quoted saying, “Play is the work of the child”. She emphasized that children’s activities are purposeful, developing their independence and personality rather than being merely purposeless pastimes. This work, often mistaken for play, is critical for their development, concentration, and inner joy.

✨ Our 60th Anniversary Celebration this weekend was a beautiful reminder of the lasting impact of our community. We loved seeing so many current and alumni families and staff come together and sharing in the joy of all that’s been accomplished over the years.
