A.W. Beattie Career Center hosted its annual Summer Camp, and participants in the Pastry Arts camp took advantage of the opportunity by learning how to bake a wide variety of recipes while also giving back to the community.
Campers prepared and donated hundreds of dinner rolls to North Hills Community Outreach, extending the long-standing relationship A.W. Beattie has had with the non-profit.
Earlier in the school year, Culinary Arts and Pastry Arts students prepared nearly 300 Thanksgiving meals for North Hills Community Outreach and also presented a $360 donation.
“We will always embrace a variety of ways to engage, educate, and empower kids to pursue their career pathways, and in order to do that fully we must also encourage them to leverage their education and skills to give back to others,” A.W. Beattie executive director Eric Heasley said. “We hope the students that enjoyed our camps are interested in attending a Career Center program in the future, but more importantly we hope they will continue to want to dedicate time to serving their community.”

Four seniors - Hampton's Kulthoom Dinani, North Hills' Kiera Klaus, Deer Lakes' Logan McSweeny, and Shaler Area's Emily Miller - played integral roles during our Class of 2026 Senior Recognition Ceremony!
Kiera and Kulthoom have been the voices of Beattie for the last two years as they have led morning announcements. They appropriately kicked off the Senior Recognition Ceremony by leading all in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
Emily, Kulthoom, and Logan were also the students selected to represent the Class of 2026 as the senior speakers. To be selected, students self-nominate, prepare speeches, and go through an audition process.
Thank you to Emily, Kiera, Kulthoom, and Logan for their contributions to Beattie over the last two to three years and for representing the Class of 2026.
And Good Luck to the entire Class of 2026!
