Sara Hicks holds a birth-3rd grade unified teaching certificate and has four years teaching experience at Honey Bear. All three of us love and enjoy working and teaching children! The objective of Honey Bear Preschool, Inc. is to provide a safe, organiz

ed, enjoyable environment where children can grow intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. Our ideal program is simple and orderly. It includes both structured teaching experiences and periods of free choice; also both large and small groups learning experiences. Our curriculum includes studies in language arts, math, science, music, manipulative toys, crafts, art, role playing, blocks, social studies, physical education, play-dough, water-play, painting, outdoor activities, writing skills activities and snack time. We discuss a different theme each week. The following are goals of the preschool:
1. It is designed to meet the needs of the children.
2. Children will enjoy coming to Honey Bear and feel safe. If the needs of the children are met, they will enjoy the preschool and join in the activities willingly.
3. The program is aimed at helping children learn. We will provide developmentally appropriate learning experiences therefore the children will grow and develop emotionally, physically, socially, and intellectually.
4. Children are allowed to spend most of their time interacting with peers, playing with toys and materials, and participating in learning activities. “Play is the most important vehicle of learning for young children.” – a fact which we repeatedly emphasize.
5. Children are treated with love, warmth, and respect. Children thrive in a loving environment and learn rapidly. The total welfare of the child is foremost in guiding our efforts.
6. Play materials, equipment and activities are always available which:
A. Let young children actively participate rather than just sit and listen. Foster a positive self-concept. C. Encourage children to think, question, and experiment. D. Encourage language development. E. Promote social skills
F. Foster creative expression
G. Encourage independence
H. Respect cultural diversities. I. Enhance fine motor and gross motor skills. J. Support self-help skills.

It feels like just yesterday many of you were walking through our doors with tiny backpacks, learning your ABCs, making new friends, and exploring the world with curiosity and excitement. Watching you grow into such amazing young adults has been so special.
